Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
Thanks for the beach info. I'm used to the quiet in the summer & prefer that. When I met you there 2 years ago, it was so busy/hectic. Vowed I'd never go again at this time. However, sometimes Negril calls & life at home needs to be put on hold :). W/ the hotel side shut down for now & the jerk who robbed the place the last few years gone, I figured it'd be quieter.... just NBCC & TS folks. I didn't like having to get out @ 5 a.m. to get a beach chair, ditto watching people struggle all day to find one because people who never showed up would have chairs "reserved" all day. Then there were all the booking & overbooking issues that tief created. Remember the young woman from NY who got stuck at the dump in town? Only one of many. TS people denied their rooms, etc. Too much drama for vacation - lol. Jean & Vincent have worked hard to keep the place together & running for so long now. I'm looking forward to this trip. Too much up & down cool/cold weather in FL for me. Soon come

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
The hotel is open although only part of it seems to be rented out. Those in the rooms are the regulars.
The new bar folks are really nice so we have making a point to spend at least a 1000 a day there.

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
Well the weather sure changed here today. Got a cold front moving in so we have a lot of wind and waves. Raining a bit too.
Going to go take some pics as I know everyone loves the pics of the waves.

Crusher i love the pictures and the report, thanks for keeping it real. Thoughts, prayers and healing wishes being sent to your wife. I have heard the soursop fruit will heal lots of the crap, tell her to load up on it!

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
I think those rooms rented out to regulars are privately owned condos that are not NBCC rooms. My contacts have told me so :-) I'm sure if a room was needed & Jean or the TS didn't have one available, using a hotel room would be no problem. Cold front - again - here in FL w/ another one to follow soon. What happens here, pushes down to Jamaica too, just w/ not such cool weather. This is the craziest winter I remember w/ all the up & down warm cold weather. As long as I'm in Negril & it's warmer than FL, I'll be good. How much longer do you have there? I'm guessing we'll just miss.

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
We are here until the 25th pretty lady...the cold front hit here today lots of wind and rain! :)

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
You've got some red going on there Crusher, you have a day with no sun so it should turn into a tan. Keep the pictures coming and thanks again. 8 days till we squish white sand between our toes

So obviously with wind and the rain the beach was kind of a bust yesterday. We spent some time in DK's condo which is gorgeous. Big props to the owner of that room as they have it set up beautifully and everything is top notch. We chilled out most of the day but decided it was time to go visit with Rob and Lisa.
We headed up to the Canoe Bar to check out the show and have a snack and some Red Stripes. We hung out with Rob, Lisa and Tammy during the webcast and had a really good time. I enjoy their good vibes and quick smiles. We came back to the room after the cast was over and just chilled out. We haven't done too much this week but the stay has been very relaxing.

Hit up the aloe guy, should be $100 a stalk or less. Before you to to bed, put on the aloe and let it dry completely. Make sure you don't let it touch anything white or it will stain purple. In the morning you will be golden brown.

Well the weather has been kind of windy and rainy so we spent most of yesterday chilling on the deck in preparation to go on the Pub Crawl with Lenbert.
We were joined by DK and her man Kevin. We had a tonne of fun. The lineup was quite different from the last time we went so that was cool to experience new places.

Crusher You look like the Bouncer of NO Limit in that photo! Where is Sky Bar"?

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
So we started the crawl out being picked up by Lenbert right on time as always. The bus was PACKED!! We began our journey up the hill and our first stop was a country house up one of the first roads as you head into the WestEnd. We didn't catch the ladies name but she had tonnes of cold beer and rum punch. It was a cool experience and she had a beautiful little house and a nice yard. I am guessing she is some relation of Lenbert's but it was fun. Try the Fish Cakes and Scotch Bonnet Sauce it was fantastic.
Our next stop was Sunset After Dark. We have been there dozens of times and know Patrick quite well. DK goes there more than most and he was very happy to see us. The ocean was rough with waves crashing up on the side of the deck. I got soaked taking a couple of pictures but it was awesome. Cool side note I sat down next to this girl at the bar and something told me I knew here she was so familiar. Well when Brenda got settled she struck up a conversation with her and as Brenda often does she was getting her life story from her. Well it turns out she dated my older brother back when I was in high school. She now lives in Turks and is a dive instructor. One of her siblings was getting married in Negril so she was there for that. She too knows Patrick as they were friends back in Edmonton. Small world people....small world.
We then moved on to the Sky Bar. It was cool and they have the most awesome upper deck with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Would be a cool place to see the sunset one night.
We then went to No Limit Bar and it was your typical road side pub. There were folks playing dominos and the drinks were good. Everyone seemed to be charging 300J so it was irie.
Next stop was Xtabi and it was my first time there in all my trips to Negril. What a nice looking property and the staff all seemed really well trained and motivated. The drink prices were like double the other places but I guess that happens when you have such a fancy place. We took some pics and then carried on.
We were supposed to go to the Negril Escape next but we had a bus vote and just went on the SeaStar for Happy Hour. I ran into Big_Frank there and we had a few quick drinks. We all piled on the bus and headed back down to the beach. Lenbert dropped us off at Bar B Bar for supper. We ate and went home to bed happy and content.
Today my friends from Illinois arrive and we are booked for the SeaStar again tonight. Should be a fun time! :)
Off to the ocean its rough but I am being chewed up by flies and mosquito bites. Some salt water should work on them a bit! :)

Great report so far. What were some of the entrees you've been enjoying at BB Barn? I love Angela's, too, but how was the service? It can be slow sometimes.

Sounds like Miss Grace - she's the Justice of the Peace. I thought she might be a relative, so I asked him, she's not - just an old family friend. Very nice lady, and we all joked that she would be a good lady to know!

Hey Crusher saw you, Brenda and your Sista from another Mista on the webcast at Seastar last night. Neon green is your colour man. Didn't see you get up and bust a groove but you did look like you were having fun. Was that a cuban you were enjoying with your red stripe?

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
Yes it was. I figured we would make some of the webcast since we were front and centre! :)

Re: Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014
Another beach today. Lots of scenery...not sure I am allowed to share those pics! :)
We went for lunch at Travellers and of course ordered something that wasn't on the menu. Something we learned a long time ago is that if you don't see it on the menu ask....cause the cooks are likely making it for themselves. So we had Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas. It was SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOODDDD!!!!!
Cheap too at 7 bucks.....
We are off to the Jerk Fest later should be a lot of fun! :)
