Slept late this day, well, late for us anyway...until 7:30. Chad woke up before me and snuck this photo, which turned out really nice with the light coming in the window and the mosquito netting. He should really take more of our photos, I think he's a better photographer than me.

We made eggs and callaloo for breakfast again and tried the soursop from the fruit stands. I squeezed half of it and mixed with club soda for a spritzer, that was really good. I think I prefer soursop juice, I'm not crazy about the texture of the flesh.
We saw our LA friends over at LTU having breakfast and chatting with Karl Ricketts before leaving.

We must have been really tired because after breakfast we apparently took a nap for 2-3 hours...super lazy day. We ate at Sips 'N Bites after our nap, can't remember what we ate, but I know it was good because it always is. After our meal we just went back to Citronella and lazed around reading and chilling. Saw an awesome Dr. Bird fight off the back verandah and got a decent picture of one of the participants.

Sunset, then our normal evening verandah time. It was a Friday night party at LTU and the music was too loud to sleep. Fortunately it was some good classic R&B and motown, so we decided if we couldn't beat 'em, join 'em. Well, we didn't actually go over there because we were already in pajamas, so we just stayed up late listening to the fun next door. Luckily we had slept all day anyway, so we weren't very tired.

Love the pic of you in the bed! Looks like something from a magazine!:)
Up early today and people were wandering around in the front yard of our cottage again while we're trying to enjoy the morning in our pajamas. Chad was really p*ssed and getting all belligerent and I didn't really feel like dealing with it...here's my fake smile while I'm lying in the hammock being irritated.

So we headed down to Canoe for breakfast. It was very good, I can't remember exactly what we had but I do remember there was extra bacon involved. After that we went to HiLo to change some $ and pick up a few supplies. We went back to Citronella and I did some yoga on the A-Frame front porch and then got my bikini on thinking we'd head to the beach early. Chad was feeling tired, so he decided to take a nap first while I chilled in the front yard. After the nap we set off for our regular hangout, Sun Beach. They were doing some work in the parking area today and we made note of the sign instructing us where to park.

It was a very nice beach day, very sunny. We did some swimming, ate some cashews, had a pineapple daquiri, did some floating on my raft, and a bit of reading. Chad always likes to chat with the staff.
Attachment 18233Attachment 18234
I don't have anything in my notes about lunch, but if we ate lunch at Sun Beach, I'm sure we had the escoveitch again. We stayed there all day long and late in the afternoon decided to go for a walk up the beach. We let the staff know we were leaving for a bit and the manager said "Oh, are you going some place nice?" My husband, the smartass, replies "No, we're coming back here!" OMG...fortunately everyone just laughed and laughed. It's a good thing they like us and get Chad's humor.:p
We walked up past CSA and back. It was a really beautiful afternoon and we got some great photos.

I got this silly bikini on clearance and wasn't crazy about the fact that it says "Love" on the rear, but it's appropriate for Negril...it's the One Love BUTT. :D

My handsome husband...

Light levels starting to get low and a gorgeous sunset coming on.

To be continued...more photos to post.
love your report and photos!! Looking at the photo with Barry's Bar sign really shows how much beach has been lost over time.
Happy Sunday
peace,
Islander - Brynn
We walked back to Sun Beach and it was time to eat dinner so we decided just to eat there. We had the ginger curry chicken, which was really good. It's not at all spicy, so a good choice for people that don't want the heat. It's good to give your guts a break sometimes anyway. :o
GORGEOUS beach sunset that evening, plenty of photos for ya!

And just a few more photos to end the day...the rest of our evening was our normal routine.

those sunsets are absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to be back in Negril on 7 mile beach!
Superb composition on the last twilight shot. Love the twinkles across the bay, with the dark mountain backdrop. You're good!
As Bob Hope used to say..........Thanks for the memories.....
It's Christmas morning, time to sleep in for once! Slept until 7:30 anyway...not exactly late. My handsome husband made corned beef hash for breakfast.

After breakfast we wandered over to the great house to use the WiFi for some reason or another. We spent some time talking to the staff and owner, just enjoying Christmas morning with the Citronella community. We spent most of the day after that just hanging around the A-Frame, did some yoga, swimming & sunning, had some rum drinks (I like Appleton V/X with a splash of ting, club soda, and a lime).

What a lovely trip report!

After awhile we decided to venture out so that we could find some curry goat for our traditional Christmas meal. Chad ran out to the store first, saw that Sips 'N Bites was closed, so we decided to try Cosmo's, also closed. We were starving so we went to Sun Beach and ate escoveitch AGAIN and had a papaya daiquiri. We were glad to get to say bye to Dennis and the Sun Beach staff since we were leaving the next day. We also went by Canoe for one last rum punch and to say bye to Kirby and Georgia. The sunset was looking awesome, so we scurried up to 3 Dives to catch the last bit and ordered curry goat to go. It was nice chatting with Lloydie while we waited for our food, then we headed back to Citronella for our last evening :( in Negril.

Your pics are making these last few days before we leave....a little easier. Thank you....not only for the report but helping ease my Negril infested mind! Looking so forward to Christmas in Jamaica again. One of favorite times to visit.
Whew...I finally made it to the end of this report. It only took me, what--10 months? Oh well, better late than never. Today is the start of the single-digit dance for our next reach, so I figured I better knock it out.
We spent our last morning packing, drinking coffe, having breakfast, getting showered up and ready to go. We had a nice, late-ish flight, so we didn't have to leave until 11:00 am. Returned the car, easy breezy, no lines for customs--AWESOME--then made our way in and had our last meal at Margaritaville. The only time I will visit one will be in an airport. ;)
Here are some photos, including the perfunctory sad, depressing drive back to MBJ shots.

And I really hate seeing this sight...

And that's all folks. Easy flight back to Charlotte and we had a long layover so got to try out the US Airways Club with the free passes they sent me for having their Mastercard. It was pretty nice, but no way would I pay for it. I thought there would be recliners or something...silly me.
So, today is 9 days until our next reach, looking forward to getting away from it all, relaxing, and hoping to do some healing. It's been a really rough year and I am in desperate need of some Negril.
Hope you enjoyed reading my report and sorry if I lost some of you along the way due to my procrastination. Thank you everyone for all of your lovely comments and compliments. I'm going to read back through them all now to enjoy them again. Maybe I'll always spread the report out over almost a whole year...hmmm...gets me really close to the next reach that way!!!!
Thanks Hettie for the TR! I love the pics! Maybe our paths will cross in Negril :), we leave on the 14th.
Hettie,
Super trip report, I'm glad it came up again so all could see. Can you tell me about the raft you are using in the first series of pics? Did you take it with you or was it at the round house? I'm trying to find something to take that's easy to pack and a little more reliable than the cheap plastic ones.
Hettie - I really enjoyed your trip report! And only 9 days until you leave?! LUCKY:) I would love to see a December 2012 report...
Wonderful report Hettie, so fun. You do Negril proud and so right. Thanks for taking us along and for the time machine you employed to do it!
Thanks Hettie! I started reading this report before I wrote my first one! You make me feel a lot better about taking so long to finish up my next one. I know how you feel, I'm going to try to wrap mine up before we head back down. I really enjoy the way you and Chad roll, nice laid back vibe but you get plenty full on the experience. Hope we cross paths someday...
Wonderful report! I loved all of your beautiful pictures!!
So many great trip reports on this site, it has me thinking we need to break out from staying AI.. I just haven't worked up the courage to take that leap just yet.
Have a wonderful trip, I look forward to your next review!!
Hi Caught-- That is my float, I always take it with us. The brand is Swimways and I think I bought it on Amazon. It's a really awesome float because it twists in to a flat disc when deflated and fits in a regular size suitcase (not carry-on). You also can blow it up with just lung power, no need for a pump. Because it's mesh in the middle, you float partially submerged, which is nice and cool. It is rather lightweight also. I highly recommend getting one. It has held up very nicely for four lengthy reaches. It still looks new.
Awesome report. See you pon the rock. Mi soon come.
Thanks for sharing, sounds like they way my wife and I roll.
Hettie, i just read your complete trip report and must tell you how much it meant to me. i had several flashbacks to happy trips and familiar sounds and sights. thank you very much for all your efforts and for sharing your wonderful photos with all of us who love Negril as much as you and your husband do.
all the best to you,
Nori
nice stuff....great photos....
I forgot to mention...we arrive on the peak night of the Geminids meteor shower again this year!!!! How crazy is that?!? It was not planned, we were able to use US Airways miles for our flight and I chose dates with the lowest mile requirement. We are so pumped!!! I hope it's clear again, it was so amazing last year, we tell everyone about it, I'm sure they're sick of hearing it. :p
Hettie, saw your post and hope to meet you while in Negril, too! Thanks for posting about the Geminids meteor shower!! I just googled it and found that the 13th through the 15th are great days to catch a view. Since I am more of a late night person, this is going to be awesome!. The Negril skies at night are truly amazing to me! I am already planning to set up a spot to watch. Happened to be in Negril during the lunar eclipse one December and it was beyond description. Thanks again for posting this. :) Soon come..................
