Attending a "dead yaard"....wake...in Negril! Truly, a magical experience! The celebration of life...Jamaican style!
I never knew about the Dead Yard. I just read up,very cool. Not everyone can just play the drums, you must have the spirit within.
I already have the book "The Dead Yard" didn't read it yet because I got it along with A Good Walk (which I passed on to a friend at CoCo ) I am motivated to read it now. Most drummers are of Maroons decent.
Now I know what a Duppy Band is. Thanks.
In 2008 we got engaged under the waterfall at Travellers, In 2011 we got married on the cliffs at Samsara and in 40 more sleeps we will be back to do who knows what!!!:D
Standing in the water talking smart with Fred Stripe...
nothing could be greater then our first trip in 1984.....I cannot describe the sights, sounds, and smells of Montego Bay, in the backs streets walking on foot at 2 AM, or Red Ground at sunrise, or the surf hitting the cliifs at Hearbeat while the Moon rose............."make mi eyes leak".....................
Makes my eyes rain (to quote Tropical Thunder) ( I do two shows a day with a packed house, why should I go home?)
Standing in the water, drinking Red Stripes, and solving all the world's problems with fargoman.
