We have a surprisingly good Jamaican restaurant close by us in Michigan. The owner/chef is from Negril, and honestly, he makes the best damn curried chicken with steam veg that I've ever eaten, and his rice n peas are right up there too. The jerk isn't nearly the same, but it's pretty good in its own way. Can't really jerk chicken properly indoors. The only thing I won't order there is the fish, because it's all frozen.
"But it's not ackee!" :-)
Thought I'd post a couple of pictures I took today in the "foreign foods" section of the local Publix grocery store in Marathon, Florida. They have a much larger selection of Jamaican foods than I can find at home in Homosassa FL. Attachment 45259
