Your sunset picture is FAB~~~~ SO BEAUTIFUL!
We go because over 20 years ago we discovered this beautiful island, the people, the magic...no place in the world like it.
We go because 32 years ago my husband and two buddys drove a van from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Florida, parked the van and flew to Jamaica and found this wonderful place they had heard about full of friendly locals, hippies and the most beautiful beaches and more.....he took me two years later and after a few years of return visits we married on the beach at sunset on Feb 28, 1986 surrounded by 50 family, friends both Canadian and Jamaican that we had made throughout the years. A few return visits, and 26 years later we are returning with our three kids, ages 24, 19 and 15 next Saturday, March 9th to show them first hand why we fell in love with this little gem. I can't wait for them to experience it and am so happy we can do it with them!! Things have changed throughout the years, but the people, the vibe and the beach still remain as beautiful as ever and we want to share this with them. It sounds like we all have a reason to return and they are all very similar, but I think one thing is universal and it has to do with the feeling we get when the wheels touch down and we feel the heat and see the smiles and smell the familiar aromas that surround us.........and the dust of our lives is washed away by the Caribbean Sea, even if it is for a week or two or.........
for me, negril keeps drawing me back as this will be my 5th trip. i have lived around the world and make barbados my 2nd home. i can say that i have all the same reasons for going there...friendships, music, locals, and great food and beaches...but my heart has always had a big place for negril too.
i haven't been back for more than 5 years but i am anticipating this trip as much as the first one! the camaraderie of like-minded people who appreciate the beauty of jamaica and it's people for what it truly is holds a special place in my heart. to me, integrity is the highest value and i feel that people who appreciate jamaica for what it really is, are a special group. i am honoured to be among those special people and can't wait to meet many more of you!!!
I go because, in Jamaica, I'm at peace...
I love LOVE - I love this thread and I love you Mr. T and your beautiful wife who is one of the most amazing women I have ever met - FOR REAL. Deep deep love is what I see with you guys and lots of other couples I have met in JA.......maybe JA allows or reminds us to love deeper. Feeling free (yep) another draw for sure and another reason love is sweeter. I beleive once we love ourselves we each have a "someone" that we can show our true self and who is meant to share our life and help up be our best self. Whether its a couple or a friendship that LOVE we give and receive is the sweetest part of life to meI fell in love with Jamaica and it will always be in my heart - I also feel in love with a Jamaican and he too will always be in my heart. I love LOVE........

Booger that was a great post and it really made me think about my BFF, my lover and my rock (all the same person by the way!) Mrs. DD! The last 12+ years i was a part owner of a small business and my biz partner robbed me and the other partners blind. My unbelievable wife stood by my me unconditionally, we almost had to declare bankruptcy, we were forced to borrow money from family & friends and my wife was always there with a smile on her beautiful face making sure our kids were taken care of and that she put me at ease because of the stress I constantly felt.
Last year i was able to sell my portion of the biz for pennies on the $, but we were able to pay off all debt and had some extra money to ensure our 14 day trip to Negril was great. The second we hit the rock we both felt a sense of calm come across both of us. there was a giant spark that went off inside of each of us that allowed us the fall in love again. We had always promised each other that we would grow old but never grow up. Unfortunately I forgot that for the last few years and my wife made me get back to letting the inner child out when we got to Catcha. I was going nuts, jumping & diving from all levels of the cliffs, enjoying way to many cocktails every day, living in the now - for that moment, and finally for surrendering my mind to love 24/7. Mrs. DD is a special lady and we now get this feeling back while in our living room, out at dinner or just driving in the car. we are married for 30 years and I can honestly say I'm the luckiest guy around to have found true love and for it to last.
It was great to meet you and Sandie last October, I could see the love then in both of you and I see it in the picture you posted for this thread. Thanks for starting this thread and for making me realize for the 10th thime today that i am blessed!
