Re: Questions about the horses on the beach
I respectfully (I don't want to start a trolling thing on one of the pleasantist sites on the interwebs) suggest that a toddler on the beach should have adult supervision and part of that supervision can be looking out for horses.
But that may just be me, I was a lifeguard in an earlier version of myself.
Re: Questions about the horses on the beach
I guess reasonable people can disagree.

Cool Papa Georgie.
We already agree on a key issue.

Re: Questions about the horses on the beach
"I wish they would just outlaw the beach horse riding all together."
It is illegal but is done because 1.) it's $$$ & 2.) people want to do it. Kind of like ganja. Illegal but there's a demand.
Re: Questions about the horses on the beach
Absolutely reminds me of why I only go to Cosmo's on the beach.
Down that end I visit old friends but only to visit.

Papa.
Valid arguments take too much time....just here for the good times :-)
Not sure who said a toddler can watch his own back...not me....but if the toddler is gansta nuff he can with a little help from his wingmen:-) On a serious note, regulations on the activity and the operators of the horses makes much more sense than just to ban them. IF responsible people rode the horses up and down the beach looking for business away from the populated beach areas life would be good. I can totally see/witness the current criminal type of riding(in some cases) and it needs to stop. Heck I was almost taken out 4-5 years ago by someone at full gallop as I entered the beach. Just....ban the bad riders...not the horses and unicorns
Re: Questions about the horses on the beach
Given the "fluidity" of the beach and it's ever-changing width, along with the proximity of many restaurants to the water (try eating lunch when a horse has dropped its apples in front of the restaurant and the operator is slow to pick up after said horse while being yelled at in patois by surrounding vendors/restaurant owner which certainly slowed the response time further....the stench of dropped apples and sweaty, improperly fed/cared for horse does nothing to enhance lunch), I think the beach should be off limits for horses.....that being said, I wish I had gotten a picture of the operator in his thigh high blue socks sans shoes....aka Jamaican Riding Boots.......
And regarding ganja, I have never seen a smoked up beach walker defecate or run recklessly on the beach....not that it hasn't happened, but I haven't experienced it during lunch....yet.....lol....
Re: Questions about the horses on the beach
here's a likkle someting-something for you-all to *chew* on 'bout those horses and the police's inability to do anything about the issue/problem.
#1...Negril is teeny-tiny town --- EVERYbody KNOWS every-body..!!..
so,
how come the police don't know WHO is riding those horses..??..
AND:::::>>> EVERY-body who lives there, KNOWS who is doing '.what.' (i.e., riding the horses). It AIN'T no mystery.
i KNOW they see 'em .... . recognize 'em,,,,
so,
why can't they go chat wit 'em if they doing something illegal..??..
#2....WHERE do those horses *live*..??..
on my next trip,
i'm gonna do a likkle *research*
I'm willing to bet one (1) bag-juice,
that those horses come from that yard
which is BEHIND/NEAR the police station.
'tis LESS-than 50-yards directly behind the police station.
and *they*-SAY they can't do blah blah raa raa..??...
Pu-Leeeeeze ...!!!...
dem think i'm an idiot
stay tuned
research SOON done..!!... [[[ trus mi ]]]
