Re: The Murder of Colin Lynch is simply unacceptable
Good point Troublemaker!
If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.
The good, honest, hard working people of Negril, need our business more now than ever.
If one decides never to return to Negril "ever" then go post somewhere else, why bother waste your time here? Go post on a Mexican forum perhaps.

Re: With a heavy heart...
I'm with Mattmon, this is unthinkable.... I don't get it...

Please...think before hitting the send button... I think we can all agree about the senseless nature of these awful crimes, but unlike many cases, these events now have become higher profile news stories. The type of violent, rise up responses proposed by the O.P. will not bring justice to the victims or solice to their loved ones.
Peace...

And, most likely do more harm, than good....
Re: The Murder of Colin Lynch is simply unacceptable
The community is under what u could call a terrorist attack.... Business men gunned down... Is it gang related, are gangs trying to impose a tax (mafia) on those doing business in their territory? Anybody who has ever been to the shop where the murder took place, and spent time in the area, can only think WTF?
Re: The Murder of Colin Lynch is simply unacceptable
While I might not agree with Mattmon's suggestions of violence, I understand his outrage & the passionate plea for the loss of his friend.
I hear his battle cry as a wake-up call to the complacency of this board, the residents & the government, in light of these murders.
I'm amazed by how many have seemed to turn the other way or sweep it under the rug with 'it happens everywhere'.
I live in Detroit & still find what is going on in Negril to be scary. Who or what is next if this isn't nipped in the bud?
& why does it seem more are upset with Mattmon's response than the violent incidents that spurred his commentary in the first place?!
Instead of setting fires or bashing Mattmon, can we use our power for good instead of evil? What can we, as a group, do in a proactive manner to help put some pressure on the powers that be to help curb this violence?
Re: The Murder of Colin Lynch is simply unacceptable
I understand how painful this is for those who have met Colin. We all feel it here. He was our neighbour for 3 years and saw him on a daily basis. We hurt too.
More violence is not the solution. What is surprising me is that some people think nothing is being done. Just last night the highly increased police presence on the West End could not be missed. There are even patrols on dirt bikes to "even the playing field" so to speak. The police are out as the article link posted above points out.
But it would be counterproductive for the police to let the press know everything they are doing as this would alert the bad guys as well as the public. No one is taking this lying down.
