Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the report, it was a great week.
So we were at Bluefields beach around noon on a Tuesday. We bought a couple spoons from George, relaxed with some red stripes, went for a swim in the crystal blue waters, and breathed deeply. I gotta post this one again, cause it was just an awesome fulljoy Jamaica moment.

All the while in the other direction, storm clouds drew closer. Miss Bunny and I went up to the cookshop area, to pick up lunch for the crew when suddenly, the clouds broke. Heavy drops! We ducked into a cookshop as it started pouring down.

It was a quiet scene with an extended Jamaican family enjoying lunch, disrupted by the storm. We all crowded into a back room next to the kitchen with Errol, a British ex-pat who's lived in Jamaica for fifteen years, owns property nearby. He was visiting a cousin of the family with his parents on holiday from abroad, we enjoyed some great conversation. Red Stripes all around and the rain kept coming down, hard. Miss Bunny checked in with the chef to fix up some chicken & fish.
The rain kept falling. The whole cookshop back room crowd sang a loud Happy Birthday to Peter as we welcomed him to his next year!

Eventually the lunch got boxed up and we ate it on the spot, crowded in the backroom. The fried chicken was great, we realized pretty quickly we had all gotten fried chicken back... actually I'm a fan, and the 'oysters' were awesome. Overall a very fulfilling meal, with fluffy rice and peas, really hit the spot with a red stripe.

By this point it was 2:30, still raining and time to get on the road. So much for beach day but that's how it goes. Loaded up in the van and took off towards Zimbali.
By this time the schools were getting out; on our route from Bluefields back through Sav and towards Little London, we saw all the righteous colors and styles of Jamaican school uniforms.

We poured Sorrel & Tanqueray with a splash of soda for the gentlemen; rose wine for miss Bunny; Ting & Tito's for miss Amber. A nice rolling cocktail hour, as the clouds kept rolling across the horizon.

We headed north around Little London; across plains and near plantings. A quiet settled across the landscape and our car. One of my favorite things about being with old friends is when you don't need to talk.

Further north and up through the hills we climbed, slowly. Passed fields of vegetables and many other organized plots. A nice looking herd of Jamaican beef along the way, too.

We passed by the Big Mango Tree Bar and really wanted to stop, but looked like it was closed up at the moment. I do like the look of those big mangoes. :)

After another curve or three, we wound up at the gates of Zimbali Farms and couldn't believe what we saw... more soon :D
