Re: Detroit to Negril, my first ever trip report!
Thanks, Nutz!
& to everyone else who has encouraged me to keep writing!
Another lazy morning. We decided to go to the beach at Wild Parrot. About noon we took a cab down........ Only to find it cloudy, which it wasn't on the cliffs. We had lunch. Lin had a club & I tried the delicious spicy fish tacos with tropical salsa. They were sweet, sour & a lil spicy! Yum-meee! By the time we were done the sun was peeking in & out. We decided to stay there for a bit & played in the surf. After, we took a walk down the beach. It looked like it might rain so we decided to catch a cab & head back up to the cliffs.
i wasn't joking when I said we try to cram everything in on the last day! So, we decided to stop for Jerk at 3 Dives. It was a lil after 3! But, as delicious as the food is, the wait is long! By the time it came I was hungry & antsy sitting on hard benches watching the time tick away......on our last day! We ordered extra to have for breakfast before we leave.
Cabs seemed like they were few & far between. So, we decided to start walking up to BS. Figured someone would stop on the way! It was nice to get a slower, more detailed perspective as we walked. The cloudiness from the beach was following us, which kept it cooler.
As we neared Pushcart we saw Lenbert on a Sunday Pub Crawl. I remembered reading that T & J were going to be on this one, so we stopped in to say hi! We talked to Lenbert & he tried to help us find T&J. Finally, I blurted out....'Is T&J here?!'
They were there! Right in front of me.....& a lil surprised to be 'paged' at Pushcart Negril! Pushcart is a cute lil place that we will try next time. The crawl was going to Belladonna's next, which I would like to try too. We met a lady from Belladonna's in the cab this morning. Too bad we don't have more time!
We had a quick chat at Pushcart & were on our way again! After Rockhouse, a cab stopped for us & took us the rest of the way. It feels good to walk, but the marriage proposals, while usually respectful, get tiresome after a while.
The water truck arrived shortly after we returned to BS! Yay! A shower! It felt won-der-ful! There was a party at our tiki hut but we'd messaged Dan&Sue & had already made plans to meet them at Catcha for a drink. We chatted with our neighbors for a few & then headed out.
We had a drink & delicious mocha cheesecake with our new friends & then it was time to say goodbye! Thank you Dan&Sue! (& Donna & Kurt who went home Saturday!) we enjoyed your company very much!
We walked back to BS. We went in & got ourselves situated, I poured a glass of wine & went to the tiki hut for a bit. Lets just say people were in various stages of party! & I was the most sober! I stayed a few & then went in to start packing up & then to bed. My 1 nostril is sill runny/stuffy & I woke up coughing at some point. Still think it's allergies though.
I set the alarm for 6 but woke at 4. Once I go down the treacherous stairs to use the bathroom it's hard for me to go back to sleep again. Besides, I will be up for work at 5am tomorrow, which is 4am here! :(
There were a lot of stars so I headed out to the cliffs & sat there watching night turn into day. The lighthouse was flashing & I could see a ship's lights in the distance. So beautiful, til the bugs intruded on me. I started scratching & decided to come in & write!
I'm glad I finally wrote a trip report. Linds & I had a wonderful time & I'm glad I captured it for us (& you!) We had a beautiful photo of us taken while we were here. I think I'm going to frame it for her & tuck a copy of this trip report behind it for her. If Lin & I had a dollar for every time someone on this trip said how much we resemble each other, we could afford another trip! We hear it at home but not like this!
Trip report photos soon come!
Speaking of soon come.....Kingsley is coming for us at 9am. Gonna finish packing now.........

Nice picture!! West End Girl....you and your dawta are simply stunning! And yes, you guys look like sisters rather than mother and dawta. Only wish I could have been there too! LOL Good times for sure!
Re: Detroit to Negril, my first ever trip report!
Thanks for posting photos, Dan&Sue! We miss your smiling faces!
Thanks, Yetta! It was a wonderful trip.
I woke up this morning thinking, a week ago today I was in Negril! We went to the beach.....3 Dives, Catcha....sigh. Each trip is fun & unique in its own way. But, it's the people we meet along the way that makes it the most memorable. Some you chat with for a memorable moment (that stays with you forever!) & others turn into wonderful friendships that spans miles & countries!
Lin & I are so blessed to have a great relationship & the chance to travel together like that. I'm so proud of her! She's teaching & living on her own now. We get along so well that instead of being relieved to have our own space back after the trip, we truly missed each other!
Good to see my boys & my cats though! The 21 year old did fine home alone. There was more food than beer in the frig! Both cats are fine & no damage seen with the naked eye! Thank you, Troy!
It has been rainy & grey every day we have been home. No ice like Dan&Sue though! 70 tomorrow... & more rain.
I know... April showers brings May flowers. But, the grey is killing me!
What I thought was allergies turned into a cold. Needless to say, I didn't set the world on fire last week! Lol Glad to be feeling much better. Well enough to see Bon Seger in concert last nite!
Trip photos soon come!
Re: Detroit to Negril, my first ever trip report!
I enjoyed reading your trip report! My fiance and I will be checking into Banana Shout for a couple of nights next week before we head to CocoLaPalm for the remainder of our trip. I may have missed it if you wrote about it, but they don't do any kind of breakfast at BS, do they? I thought I read something a while back but maybe that was in-season. Is there coffee in the room or will I need to bring some (I know they have coffee pots there)? Any other tips? This is my 7th trip to Jamaica, so I'm not a newbie; just a newbie to Banana Shout. ;) Thanks!
