Sigh ....... I saw you were the last one that posted and I thought there was more :(
All of this working for a living stuff really gets in the way of our fun!
Day 4 Back To The Beach.....So, we leave Seastar on the shuttle, with Henry at the wheel and some of our Winnipeg friends. Henry is taking them to Cafe Goa for brunch and the Sunday webcast, and Lisa and I to the Grand Pineapple. We haven't totally sworn off the all inclusive thing altogether, the reason being that the GP is such a special place...there's a quite long story that I won't get into as far as us coming <this close> to staying at CocoLaPalm....basically, the closing, and reopening of GP...altered that ...We 1st stayed here last year, after several years of expensive, yet enjoyable Couples resorts trips...This place has one eating venue(buffet style), and one bar...it's small and inexpensive...We don't feel obligated here to take every meal/drink here just because we spent a fortune on them....cause we don't. The staff are great, the location is the best IMHO on the beach. AS long as they don't close or ruin this place, we will probably keep returning.So...we arrive, check in, and they tell us that our room will be ready shortly, and to go enjoy the beach, bar...etc.. That's all we need to hear...Down to the bar, but on the way we see Marvette, one of the wonderful people that work here and make this place such a gem. Hugs, and ...down to the beach...Here we see our friends that we had met last year..J & T. They are from Minnesota, and doing their 3rd stay here...and then it's Tony from Ontario...who is a regular visitor to GP, as well as the "President".... George, from New Brunswick, who spends I believe something like a 3rd of each year here...the man even has an image of himself carved and painted on the tree stump that he can be found lounging next to daily...Ghavri makes us our 1st "make my day"s....a very close cousin to a dirty banana, but with the addition of cocomania rum....MMMMM. Reunion time, and we are just overjoyed. I can't forget Courtney..aka Carver, the GP's unofficial resident wood carver whom...if ever one thought that these carvings are pre-made(and some might be)..this man is the genuine article...super talented and one of the best people you could ever be lucky enough to meet. Heather and John from PA are here...and we are meeting them for the 1st time, although we have corresponded on line for at least 6-7 months...They also did a split stay, also 10 days(one ahead of us), and we were destined to meet them as they too were booked for CocoLaPalm, for the same reason. They were nicer in persoon than we anticipated... So, all is well...we grab some lunch(don't even remember what it was) and I go back to the lobby where our room keys are ready...and look at this? We have the same room that we had last year...#36. A beachside cottage with the rare ACTUAL seaview that everyone craves...Love it!! Now, along comes a man of stature who I instantly recognize...Mr. Alexander Pike...the GM of GP!! He welcomes us and says he's been looking forward to meeting us(that's right, we haven't MET him before, but again have been corresponding). Super nice guy..as it turns out, we were waiting for our room to be ready because he had asked the front desk to make 36 available to us, cause we seemed to enjoy it so much last year...Awesome...I know that it wouldn't have mattered if it was occupied, and we were just happy that we didn't get bumped to Beaches(that happens a lot, here)but I loved the thought..Attachment 25655Attachment 25656Attachment 25658Attachment 25659
That sunset pic is the best! You both look blissful!
TKim...beyond bliss...it's like heaven on earth when you contemplate/anticipate that one moment all year....even in the good times when you are sitting at a campfire on a holiday weekend....and that ....is the particular moment in time that your spouse and yourself focus on....Jamaica has that magic about it that so many will never understand without experiencing it firsthand
nice......very nice......thanks!
Thanks lisapat for all your pics and kind words of the Winnipegers. I'll have to post some pics as well. Just new today to this forum.
