Re: I have scared myself....
Ask yourself .. a question
How much time do you plan on spending in the room ?
Sleep/shower... ?? ... Hmmm...
Is it clean & are the staff friendly ??
I've never stayed there but, some may have had higher expectations... you're paying for a midlevel accomadations .. don't expect 5 star
You've been to Ja. before ...you know ..how to roll ,island style

I wanted to stay in the same place since the beach there is so amazing, the people were nice and the walk to town, the cliffs etc is so close. Well I booked our room on EXPEDIA and have been reading through the previous threads about Mariners and all the issues people have had, now I am freaking out and wondering if I should find a different hotel!
I would try to rebook elsewhere, but that's just me.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Negril & while I did not stay at the Beach Club, I did talk w/Ms Jean Gaynair about what's happening & she indicated that she had been asked to & was trying to refurbish some of the Hotel rooms. That being said, it's NO Guarantee as to what you get through Expedia but you may also try booking directly w/her at NBCC- Negril Beach Club Condos. Just MY opinion!
Re: I have scared myself....
Thanks everyone for the information! I was not expecting a 5 star hotel by any means but I do want to feel safe in my room. I have canceled those reservations and have moved down the beach to The Negril Palms!
Re: I have scared myself....
good decision.....better safe then sorry
Re: I have scared myself....
onthecorner are you familiar with this area of the beach? I loved the feeling of the beach around NBCC but would rather like you said be safe than sorry!

what happened at NBC that has people worried? We are staying down the beach a bit from there but if its crime and such, I'd like to know what we may encounter. we'll be there next week but have others that are looking at staying there in a few months. The reviews are terrible so maybe I would suggest they don't either way, but is there something I'm missing?

Actually, I think the beach area by The Palms is much nicer than at NBCC...

This quote from CaribbeanQueen says it all - " I did talk w/Ms Jean Gaynair about what's happening & she indicated that she had been asked to & was trying to refurbish some of the Hotel rooms. It is more about legal entanglements and "absentee owner" not acting responsible. Jean is doing everything she can to make things right. It is not a crime issue in a danger sense, but more of a legal sense...
