They will wave you over, just trying to make a sale.
Sometimes I "do" want to see the wares offered for sale on the beach.
Sometimes I don't.
Someone, with a nice pretty stand/table/stall full of souvenirs will wave you over.
"Come mon, take a look"
The thing is....walking the beach/sand is not like a sidewalk.
That sand wears on the legs.
Gee,
you are sitting in a nice comfy chair,
I am sweating bullets walking in this sand.
Not the easiest thing to walk on sand.
Wish I was young.
So, being tired sometimes, I wave them off.
I don't mean dis-respect, but mi legs,
they aint got the get up and go like before.
It feels like even 5-6 steps off my course is rough.
So, I was thinking of a way to let the folks know that
even though, I may be interested in their wares,
I just don't have the energy to make it to their stall/table.
I think I may start pointing to my leg and
make a face, like they hurt
which (they do).:culpability:
Then I will yell, "mi legs mon, they killin me"
I am sure they understand about old folks like me,but.....
Selling is their livelihood.

Once I said "what the heck"
and walked over.
That is how I met Big John.
Anyone know him?
His spot used to be on the beach up the road
from the sign that read "Fisherman's Beach".
Big Dude, Could play Linebacker for Da Bears.
His face reminds me of the actor Michael Clark Duncan.
Same size too.
He said he sells clothes, etc, etc.
I asked what would be good to bring for sell????
(just messin wid im)
"Shoes mon, good shoes"
Not those plastic China man things, Leather, they sell like hot cakes.
I looked at his foot..........
He must have been a size 17.
He had Ice cold beers in an ice chest on the sand.
Now, that made the walk worth it.

Re: They will wave you over, just trying to make a sale.
Last May, a friend gave me a few dollars to find her a certain type of necklace. During my first 8 days there, I checked out all the stores at Times Square, some shops in Negril and no luck. Then the last morning there, walking the beach, I got waved over to a woman's table. I took that hard, long walk thru the soft, hot sand to her table and there it was, the necklace I was looking for. So you never know what that wave will bring ;)
