It is NOT just you. I wont buy redstripe here anymore.
I agree. I think a large part of it is ambiance, but also beer just doesn't travel well and is better fresh. That and the fact that Red Stripe is really nothing special. It's a rather ordinary light lager. But when you are in Jamaica and hot and thirsty they go down quick and smooth!
My Mechanic and the guys in his shop up here in the True North are all Jamaican (He is from Green Island) and he and the guys usually drink Heinekin or Stella Artois. When I asked Why He said Red Stripe doesn't taste right if you take it off the Island !
It does taste different and it's b/c the Red Stripe in the states is not bottled in Jamaica -- it's actually bottled in Connecticut or some place else in the US It's noted on the bottle......bottled in {xxxx} for D&G
I still drink Red Stripe while in MD but now I enjoy Stella Artois just as much.
Finally someone comes clean on Red Stripe. It is an ordinary light lager with little taste like American beer. BUT when I get to Sangster the first thing I reach for is an ice cold RedStripe!! It tastes sooo good! I can't wait.
I enjoy one on really hot days in Minnesota just to help me daydream of Ja.
"Really hot days in Minnesota" ?? I don't remember any of those LOL!!
maybe at home we keep it "ice-cold"....and in Jamaica....its "cold"...it then has some flavor ????
We had 30 days of 90 plus this summer with 75 percent humidity it was tropical
