Introduction & Thanks!

Hi!
I'm a long-time lurker and have fallen in love with Negril through this board. The many, many pics and trip reports I've seen and read lets me know Negril is the ideal spot for me and the significant other. Though I haven't set foot in Jamaica (yet), thanks to all of you on this board, I feel like I have a pretty good idea about what to expect upon arrival and throughout our upcoming vacation. It has been a chore convincing significant other to come back due to a bad experience a friend of his had when they traveled there years ago, however, I pointed out had the friend not been acting a fool and kept his head on straight, what happened to him would not have happened and furthermore, it could happen ANYWHERE in the world. :cool:

A HUGE THANK YOU to Rob & Lisa - I think they are the Administrators/Originators of this board and without them, I'd be stuck with TripAdvisor or Frommer's or Lonely Planet (although great sources of info, no where near as cool as Negril.com).

A likkle bit about myself. I'm from Kansas City - arguably the capital of Jazz & BBQ in the midwest. :cool: By day, I work at a Managed Care Organization that administers Medicare/Medicaid. By night, I consider myself a fun-loving type that LOVES to laugh, meet new people, eat great food, knock back a few cocktails and enjoy life. I have a grown daughter and one grandson who is the love of my life!

Our plan is to land pon de rock :cool: in early July as it coincides with significant other's vacation and to celebrate my birthday (which falls later in the month). If all goes according to plan, we'll stay a few days on the beach and a few days on the cliffs. I haven't decided where we'll stay on the beach, but for the cliffs, it's a toss-up between Xtabi & Seastar.

Like others here, I check this forum almost obsessively - reading, reading, reading and more reading. Everyone here seems like cool peeps - like extended family. And this "family" seems a lot like mine - love and support each other but can work the nerves at times! LOL!

Welcome to the best Negril board bar none. You already sound like a "boardie" - LOL Tell your significant other not to worry. I have been coming here solo for years and have had little if any problems.

Lisa and Rob are amazing people. Be sure to hook up with them at one of the webcasts when you are down there.

KC...LMAO...you HAVE been paying attention if you know my 'real' name is Lisa. Thank you for the credit...but...Rob is the creator, an owner and has some incredible employees that rock Negril.com.
I help out like everyone else...but also...just love to hang out & read everyone`s trip reports, info etc....:)

Bnewb - I hope I didn't cross any lines by calling you by your real name - if so, I apologize. And yes, I pay attention! LOL! I guess I'm a bit of an "information-a-holic" - you should see the folder I have on Jamaica/Negril. It's CRAZY! I'm a detail-oriented person by nature. A blessing and curse. :rolleyes:

I'm wishing I could be there for the Boardie Bash that's coming up on 4/23. It would be SO COOL to meet the people who post here regularly. I'll be there in spirit and will definitely tune in to one of the live webcasts!

An ice cold one somewhere on the cliffs at sunset is right up my alley baby! Ya mon! LOL!
