Bentley's vs Presley's
Who's is better?? Talking strictly food here.. To me they seem comparable, both use the freshest ingredients and both need reservation etc... Looking for those who have tried both.. And Gerrygs answer will be taken with a grain of magic sauce no offence...
I only got 3 days in negril but if we act fast on those reservations we might be able to try them both... And then I can answer
I like bentleys better, but Presley's was not bad.
Bentley has more of a personality, and will be out the chatting you up. He is hilarious. For whatever reason, maybe just a bad day... Pressley did not strike me as much of a talker.
Bentleys is a much, much, much better view when eating. Presley's is on the main road, and honestly, I was waiting for the place to become a drive through... And not in a good way. Bentleys is on a hillside, on a back deck which looks out over the sea. Beautiful as the sun goes down. Pressleys spot was decorated with calendars from past years featuring some rather attractive women in various states of undress.
Food was a tossup for me. Again, I liked both, but I had lobster. The wife is picky. At Presley's, she ordered shrimp with spaghetti, and got exactly that... Shrimp and spaghetti noodles... No sauce of any type. At bentleys, she ordered the 5 things on a plate, and enjoyed the vegetables, but deemed the crab patties and crab back to be full of crackers with little crab to be had. Again, since I had lobster, I was happy, don't take any part of my wife's experience as part of your choosing though... Like I said, she is a very picky eater, and would be perfectly happy with grilled cheese or an occasional grilled chicken breast for a whole trip.
With both of those in mind, I will say we are taking a newbie with us on our next reach, and will be eating at both... If I could only do one however, it would definitely be bentleys.
if your popping the question, the more romantic setting would be catcha's 100 candle dinner.....or any dinner at catcha....
Thanks guys .. And no groove, I was just playing with the title of the thread.. I know gerryg eats at bentleys rather religiously from watching his vids on YouTube .. So I felt like it was a big question..
I was thinking about Ivan's... Just not sure... I like the hole in the wall type a place ya know
How much does the 5 things on your plate cost about??
around 2000j (maybe 1700) for crab cake dinner. all killer no filler as far as im concerned.
if you are popping the question i also vote for going to Catcha or even Rockhouse .
Bentley is a great personality and i will most likely go again on our next trip but the place is rustic as we like to say on the board since we are positive and don't want to say it's a dump.

Ivan's is fantastic. Not on the same level as the other two though. Food there is awesome.
Another thing I just ought of, lion... For bentleys or pressleys, you are going to have to physically go there and order what you want prior to dinner. Bentley asks for a deposit as well. Pressley did not for some reason.
Yeah can't ask twice! Unless its off from the first time! That would of been a nice surprise ! Only the asker has to mean it!
