In 2008 I lost my job and was out of work for 17 months. Got a job in 2010 and was laid off again last week, I have been very depressed and I am really scared this time. Please let me know if I am being selfish with this request as there are other prayer requests on here that really need prayers. I pray all the time but I don't feel any solace.

Faith and Hope! Hang in there...sadly, this is such a familiar problem now days. I'm sure everyone on the board has either gone through tough times or have loved ones that have. Many prayers sent to you and don't give up. There is always a ray of hope shining!

We are all friends here, and by definition, here for each other. I will gladly pray for you! it is my honour and pleasure! Her other fave quote was 'When God closes a door, he opens a window .... it's just hard sometimes to find that stupid window!" I know I will remember in you in my prayers, and let me tell you - over the years? He has soooo come through for me.
Here's my plan. Give a little prayer for $1 donation to Ronald McDonald House to St Anthony (any McDo's on the planet ... there IS one near you) if you support our friend here. St. Anthony has done it for me! But he does like to see pay back! Not hard, Team. Just ask St. Anthony to help our friend here, and give a $1 to Ronald McDonald House if you aren't going to Negril in the near future, or directly to St. Anthony's Kitchen (he'll LOVE tat) if you will be there - and don't renege on this (not a good idea). Just do it.
We can do this.
Now, Irene. Post what you do and let's see if there are any people in or who have connections with Northern Cali who might be able to find you a job! This is all about networking! You never know, but leave no stone unturned and USE THE PM OPTION!

You are not being selfish. I'm sorry you are feeling scared and depressed. Do you have the support of your family and friends? Do you belong to a church? I pm'd you I just re-read your message and forgot a few things. Don't give up. PM me or send me an email thru here with an update. I care
Great ideas Maggie, I'm going to Negril soon and have planned on volunteering at St. Anthony's once a week while there and I will also donate to them as well as my local MickyD's. So I'll be killing 2 birds with one stone so to say. also will ask my sister in law who's a minister to put our friend here in her prayers at the next service.

It's definitely not selfish to ask for prayer after being laid off. When you lose your job, you lose your sense of security. I will remember you in my prayers. The best thing is prayer, saying affirmations, and making a promise to yourself that you won't give in to negativity and defeat no matter what.
