We are down to nine days on the countdown. Can't wait as we have had some brutal weather here for pretty much most of December and its keeping up with the cold from the looks of it right up until we leave. Two weeks in Negril is just what the doctor ordered.

I am sure we will have a blast. We have our friends joining us a couple of days after we get there. Then we add more to the crew the second week.
I am pretty sure I won't be one of those who gets killed by a coconut.....after being a pro wrestler for 10 years I know how to take a shot to the head lol!
I am sure I will have a trip report or two to share while we are down there. I am taking a couple of cameras, including a water proof one, so there should be lots of pics! :)

Unfortunately those are scarce around here in my size....lol....I would totally wear them as I spent years in spandex in front of crowds of thousands! :)

Semi that sucks would have been great to see you. WE are going to have a great time. Our long time Negril partner DK is coming with us and bringing her boyfriend who's never been. It will be nice to see Negril through a newbs eyes for a couple of days!
I handled all the money things today. We always exchange our Canadian for American before we go. We didn't get the best rate as our dollar has been taking a small thrashing on the markets the past few months. Its all good I saved up enough that we have the trip covered and then some.
My wife started her packing a while ago. I am going to check on some of my gear this weekend and get some stuff all washed up and ready to go. Then its a short four day work week next week and then we will be jetting off to Jamaica.
Have an amazing time, I am so jealous of you both!!. Can't wait to see some pics and TR's.

Just curious...why do you exchange your $$ to US first? I always use ATM's when I'm on vacation so I don't get hit with the exchange twice...do you get a better rate when you're down there on the US? Thanks...PV girl and newbie in Negril :)
We opened a USD account (happen to be with CIBC, but any Canadian bank will do). When the rates are favourable, you put money in. AND you don't have to pay a bank fee on the exchange when you withdraw! We know we're going back, so why not?
Chris55 - I personally feel it's best to use JAD down there, but USD is the next best thing. You will get a better deal on anything if you pay in JAD usually. The cambio's do give you a pretty rate down there. Having it in hand when you leave is a good idea. Bank computers can cack out, you know? You don't want to spend your vacation at the bank machine .... trust me!

You get a better rate for the JMD when you have USD to exchange. So we change to USD here and then to JMD when we are there. I have had my cards not work at the ATM's so I just play it save and do it here. Besides have you ever seen the look on a Jamaican's face when you try to give them Canadian Money? LOL!! There's a few places that are familiar with it like the Canoe but they are few and far between.
What's the rate of conversion on Canadian Tire money down there?

I had it all counted out and figured I could get at least par with the JMD and then I got doing the math: 1 dollar Canadian Tire is worth more than 1 dollar JMD.

Well it warmed up to -40C today! Supposed to be like +2C on Saturday when we leave. That means its shorts on the ride to the airport! :)
