Re: Do's and donts
don't obsess and/or overplan.
we had friends join us and were a little nervous as to how it would go. once they hit the beach with us, they got it. it all fell into place on its own.

Re: Do's and donts
We traveled to Negril with friends a few years ago. Everyone was laid back and agreeable to the point where we could not make plans.
Ex: Q."Where do you want to eat?"
A. "I don't care, wherever you want to go."
So. we came up with, "Captain for a day". Each day a different person was Captain and made the decisions on food, sightseeing and entertainment. everyone could make suggestions to the Captain, but the captain decided.
It worked out well for us; everyone got to do what they particularly wanted to do and we all had a good time.

Re: Do's and donts
i do understand the over planning and such. i have been there 15 times and would like to show them a good time, to some extent. i know how sand gravity is. my mother is 79 sis and bro inlaw 55 and all are newbies. just wondering about a couple things. like a short day trip to the country, one trip to the cliffs and the general do's and donts on the beach. i do like the captain for the day idea, but they have no clue what is available to them. i do know there will be beach most days.
do try chicken out of the barrel from the side of the road. probably will eat Best in the West

Re: Do's and donts
Do stop at several of the spots on the beach. Each one has a separate vibe and everyone will find their favorite.
Do teach them that its ok to just no mon when it comes the vendors and store owners.
Do take them into town and show them things like the Chinymon Store and the HiLo. Its an experience to see what Jamaicans have available to them.
Do make sure you get a chance to see some live music. There's nothing like it.

Re: Do's and donts
visit craft marts, grocery marts, if possible take a ride up in Red Ground or somewhere to see local runnings...Jamaica is so much more than many see in a trip

Re: Do's and donts
Go on one of the sunset boat tours, get jerk chicken, see a few night time shows, buy everybody a dirty banana!
Cheers!!

Re: Do's and donts
Do bring enough money.
Do leave all your worries behind.
Do have some fresh fruit, barrel chicken, and red stripes.
Don't flash or flaunt.
Don't do anything illegal.

Re: Do's and donts
Spend a noontime at the RedDragon for the best JerkPork. Spend a day lounging seafront at Xtabi.

Re: Do's and donts
Don`t eat the mushrooms and drink rum at the same time, omy I remember that it was not that much fun but it is legal.
