Travel issues- beware!!!
Left West End yesterday for our noon flight. Bought Club Mobay passes on a whim for holidays. Best money ever spent.
Many travelers were stranded due to storms in CHI, Philly and many other places. We sat at MBJ from 10 am till plane finally left (for Philly) at 7 pm. Missed all connections so here we sit in Philly. Hoping to get to Wisco by noon.
Some poor souls were being put up thru WEDS due to lack of planes.
Just be ready for some bad travel - we're still not home and we should have been there at 7 pm last night.
Safe travels all.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
Oh boy, so glad you had the MoBay service. A least you go to sit in comfort and drink Red Stripes. I was listening to the news and people trying to get out of Toronto have been sitting on the tarmac for 3+ hours. Hope you get home tonight WG

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
Things are all frozen in Wisconsin - schools closed even - so I hope you make it okay and that your vehicle starts up!

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
Quite a bit of snow here. Hope you made it home alright. I wouldn't mind being held up in JA but here no.
How much are these Club Mobay passes?

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
Some times it sounds good that someone is lucky enough to be stranded in Jamaica or anywhere else warm but I am sure it can be quite stressful too. Most have to get home to jobs, don't have the extra $$ to pay for room & food, vacation days gone and are now not getting a paycheck for missed days. Being stuck halfway home is even worse. Hope you get home soon Wisco gal.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
I hope you get home safely, it's quite one doozy of a storm, still on going here in Ontario.
I'm really interested in this Club Mobay for the departures. I used to fly in and out of Kingston all the time, this will be my first time through Mobay. So,$30 per person if you pre-book. sounds like a deal. With the winter we are having this year, I think I might have to treat myself.
Let us know when you arrive home safely Wisconsin gal.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
80 bucks per adult 40 for our 12 year old,200 all in for the 3 of us coming and going,jan31st soon come

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
I googled Clubmobay and it took me to tripadvisor out of reading about 10 reviews there was only 1 complaint. Apparently you can get it for a cheaper price if buy it through your hotel. Most said 30 bucks per person. I would only consider this if the weather was bad. We stay outside in Mobay for as long as we can before flying back to the cold, gotta get all those sunrays we possibly can.
Cheers

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
If you happen to be a member of Priority Pass, Club Mobay is included free.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
We left MoBay for Toronto Saturday evening. Our flight ended up about 4 hours late, but we never complained, just ate and drank till boarding time. WestJet also gave out food vouchers. Then last night we flew back to Saskatchewan. Got a bit lucky, only a couple hours behind schedule. Looks like we just squeezed in the good time in between long delays the days before and now.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
Thx for the concern- we got in to philly really late last night. Got back to philly airport this morning for our flight home and sat, plane delayed. Nice six hour nap for the night! Finally home now. Never have seen mobay such a mess in all of our trips. Crews were trying so hard to rebook and reroute, but they are so limited on planes, as most are already filled to capacity this time of year.
Our mobay passes were 30 each (departure only). Would personally not do arrival. We came in on 12-27 and walked right thru immigration-customs. In all trips longest wait maybe an hour. Maybe we have been lucky, but $80 for entry seemed high. And I do not need a bar when I enter - I want to get outta airport!!
We drank lots of stripe, good rum and Ting. They have finger foods (patties, tapas, bagels). Nothing fancy, but had we sat in Margaritaville drinking and eating our bill would have been hundreds! They also have a shower area, comfy chairs and hubs watched football all afternoon (while I rebooked flight 3 times!!!!!).
LOOKING VERY FORWARD TO BEING HOME (cannot believe that actually came out of my mouth)!!! Soon come again Negril, about 350 days!

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
Booking Club MoBay departure today through Expedia-$29 p/p. I lost at least an hour and a half waiting in line last year. The Red Stripes will just be icing on the cake. After 35 years I've yet to understand JA government mentality. They build some nice additions to Sangster, fill them with lots of shops and then makes departing so slow you have no time to check them out.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
We arrived to MBJ on Fri 12/20. While walking down the hallway, my husband said " hey, that girl is holding a sign with our names on it"! WTH??? I booked the departure, not arrival. I was pissed, frantically looking for my vouchers. Then we turned the corner and saw the sea of people! Hundreds... Huge line. Me make a mistake? Never! The nice lady said if there was a mistake, our names wouldn't be on the immigration list and we would have to go to the back of the line. There were only four people in the Club Mobay line in front of us. Hubby looked at the big line and said, I hope you made a mistake. Yep, our names were on the list! Best mistake I ever made! Zoomed thru immigration, picked up luggage, & flew thru customs! Went to the Club Mobay Arrival Lounge (different from departure). Red Stripe for hubby, rum punch for me, nice chilled wash cloths, & very nice hostesses! Our hostess went outside to find our driver. He wasn't there yet, so we had another drink. Hostess came back & said our driver had arrived & we were on our way. I booked the departure service online for 12/27 & was again very happy to use it due to the long lines. We decided that to us, the extra $$ is well worth it when traveling to & from MBJ during the holidays.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
If you have Priority Pass through Amex, does it enable you to access Club Mobay's fast track feature, in addition to using the lounge?

Called and asked Club MoBay this same question about a month a go. The Priority Pass "Select" (which is what we Amex card holders get) allows access to the lounges only (based on availability) but you still need to make reservations and pay for the fast track service on both ends. If the Lounge is full, they allow people with reservations in but not the Pass holders. It's based on availability. Hope that helps.

Just out of curiosity, how much does this "Club MoBay" and the "fast track service" cost? I am wondering because I never seem to spend more than one half to three quarters of an hour getting through customs and immigration and want to see how much I save for not doing this. Thanks.

The "Bundles" Arrival and Departure Package is $80/person. I believe that breaks down to $50 Arrival, $30 Departure. Arrival Services MUST be pre-booked - no seeing the Immigration Line and then signing up. Departure Services can be signed up for at Airport but may cost more than the $30 pre-booked price (not sure amount) and is based on availability. Apparently it does "sell out" during peak travel times.
I am using it for the first time in April. Will let you know how much time it saves me.

Re: Travel issues- beware!!!
We actually don't seem to save any time when returning home because it is a late flight but the fact that food & all alcohol is included makes it worth it. If we were to go to M'ville for a burger and a couple of drinks it would cost more than the Club.

Thanks. I will be looking forward to your report in April.
I was just thinking of how it was going through in the 80's and wished I could have avoided the military personnel who ran immigration at the Kingston Airport. In recent year, the MoBay airport is easier to navigate than most of the airports I use in the US.
I travel alone and don't have to wait on anyone and I can always count on my best friend "Marshall" to be there when I open the doors. I spend $100 US to get to my home in the Cockpits so, as the saying goes, "Pay me now, or pay me later".
Good luck on your upcoming trip.
Peace and Guidance
