I have a suggestion for the bites on the ankles. "Mac's Calamine D" salve, at most Jamaican pharmacies, a made in Jamaica product and it really works to relieve the itching. Only about $500J a tube, trust me, a good investment.
I am so jealous it is so cold here I don't even want to mention it Happy New Year to you too

another of my favorites (thus far)
is BullsBay beach:::: it has this *funny* sand/gravel ---- like likkle itty-bitty pieces of tiny-pebbles make up the beach *sand*
some beach might have a black-ish sand
or some-have, as in Negril::::>>>>> there's grey sand
