Savings idea - 52 week money challenge for next Negril trip

Good Morning Boardies,

I have been counting down for my trip in March (66 sleeps) and was thinking of ways to make coming up with the money for the next trip easier. I came across the 52 week money challenge. Basically you save money every week, week 1 =$1, week 2=$2 and so on til you reach week 52 =$52. At the end of the year you will have a nice tidy little sum of $1378.00!!!

Personally I am gonna do it backwards, I'm in my 2nd week. So, I have put aside $52 + $51 = $103 dollars already.

You can be flexible which weeks you choose and there is even an app for Android, just search Moneychallenge (no space). Choose the flexible option and the app shows you how much you have saved so far and allows you to set reminders as well.

Nice way to save for 2015, quite effortlessly :cool:

I just recently heard about this from a girl at work and i'm in. If I don't get back soon I may not make it!

I put all of my 5 dollar bills in an envelope throughout the year and that becomes spending money for Jamaica:)

That's a great idea. But I can't wait 52 weeks between trips.

Bluez, I did this last year, only made it till end of June but I still have that money. Maybe I will start in June this year and finish it up. Hmmmmm

Lady Jane, you are ahead of the game, you already have 1/2 the year done, start now and be finished in June :)

Saving all of my one dollars bills (I never pay with them), I end up with around $1300 a year. Only thingy....my bank tellers hate me when I show up with all of those $1.

I do the same thing Eco. It adds up fast. I also keep all my 5 dollar bills. It's nice when it's time for our trip to have all spending money (plus more) taken care of.

We used to save all of our change, since we have $1 & $2 coins they really add up fast. Problem is, neither one of us use cash at home much anymore...

We save our change also. so far over a thousand dollars. 26 more sleeps
