Crusher's Trip Report - Jan 2014

Well we arrive at the airport around 4AM this morning. Its amazing how easy it is to get out of bed when you know you are heading to the airport for another Negril Fix!! We ran into some friends in the airport who were going to Mexico...sucks to be them....and another who is heading to the US Virgin Islands.

We managed to beat the rush to security and were through in a breeze. Others weren't so lucky as there was only one line open. With the amount of flights booked to leave this morning that's not good news! I sat back and enjoyed some Tim Horton's and watched people with anguished looks on their faces as the line went as slow as I have ever seen it in our airport.

We relaxed put some posts on Facebook to torture our friends who are not coming with us this year and enjoyed our comfortable wait in our easy chairs we procured. Our flight was on time and it was half empty so there was room for my wife to actually lay down in an row by herself. She had the BIGGEST smile as she drifted back off to sleep after we got in the air. There was a funny incident on the plane where a woman put her bag up in the overhead, as a man asked her to make sure she didn't put it on his jacket, of course she did. The guy stands up and pulls her bag out and tosses it in the aisle, leans over and has some choice words for her. Its amazing how rude some complete strangers can be to each other. The flight attendant quickly calmed them down and said its way tooooo early for this people!

We arrived in Toronto and I quickly hit the duty free for Crown Royal and cigarettes for our friend. She smokes a tonne in Jamaica so I bought a couple of cartons for her. She's going to buy more when she arrives on Tuesday. I could understand if it was cigars but cigarettes? lol!

We found an English Pub and I am currently sitting here enjoying free wifi and some pints of Alexander Keith's. We will be in Mobay around 7:30 and it looks like there aren't a lot of flights arriving at that time so we are pretty sure its going to be a breeze through customs and immigration.

Hope everyone is doing well and I will try and keep up the posts and take tonnes of pictures!! One Love my friends Negril soon come! :)

They are having some technical issues and some weather issues in Eastern Canada but our flight still says its on time. That's what happens when you are shaped like Buddha you get lucky a lot! :)

Safe travels Crusher. It's on the news that Pearson was having problems with their computer software and the line ups were ridiculous checking in. Sounds like that didn't slow you guys down one bit.

No we are leaving from the same terminal as we arrived in so didn't have to touch luggage or clear security again. Its all irie in TO! :)

So CC you left at 4am and don't get to MoBay until 7:30 pm. Wow, that's a long day. You'll be drunk quick tonight :-)

Crusher, too bad your flts didn't bring you Regina-Winnipeg-MoBay...as AC does a direct out of Wpg Saturday mornings. However, Westjet probably had a better price...

Ha that cracked me up!
We have had freezing rain here also Montreal this morning but starting to clear now. honestly, it was a skating rink. People actually put on their skates and skated down the road. Have a great time, looking forward to your trip report

Short report.

Shopping day sitting at Bar B Barn watching the game and eating chicken! More soon!! ;)

Well as predicted we were through immigration and customs in like 15 minutes. Fastest time ever!! Club Mobay? Join Club Crusher! :P

We made our way outside to what I am sure you have all experienced....the best feeling in the world....the realization that you have arrived in Jamaica! Mi Doc was waiting and we loaded up our baggage and unloaded the cooler into the car!! Whoo Hoo!! Gotta love family that arrives at the airport with ice cold Red Stripes in tow! We headed out of Montego and head towards Negril.

Its amazing as you read the signs as they go by......Lucea.....Green Island....the anticipation grows but the sense of calm just takes over you. We were going to stop at Best in the West but decided to just head to the condo's. When we arrived we hit up the security guy as he had our key. Transferred the baggage to the room.....made plans for shopping on Sunday and hugged our blessed friend Doc a good night. After our travel day we were ready for some sleep. I did manage to figure out the TV....which had actual channels and the AC.....so the sleep was restful and comfortable. NBCC is nothing fancy but our condo is awesome. Nice little kitchen big fridge. Oh the possibilities.

I woke up early as always. Went out and snapped a pic of the ocean as the sun came up. I will share that tomorrow morning. It was so calm and beautiful and I enjoyed my time alone on the beach with a cold red stripe.

Every year...because of my appearance....we put a bet on how long it is on the beach before I get offered some subs. Well if you bet on 13 minutes this year folks you are the proud owner of what its like to be me! LOL!

I got squared away with the condo management and paid out my bill and began the wait for mi Doc to come so we could go and do some shopping at the Hi-Lo. It wasn't busy at all when we got there. You do get a sideways look when you order 5 - 24's of Red Stripe though....and say....."I'll be back".....we were through quick and got lots of fresh groceries for me to play with in our little Jamaican Kitchen! :)

We made our way to GOA....apparently we were either too early or too late for the webcast.....but had a drink and made our way back to our condo. Unloaded what seemed to be a lot of groceries and beer.....

That's when our day really started. We went and jumped in the ocean....there is no feeling like that first feeling of the ocean in Negril when you get back home. So refreshing and so much like a recharger on my batteries. I enjoyed every minute of it. After we made our way out of the ocean we decided Bar B Barn sounded like a good idea. The game was on and I was famished after only eating plane food etc the day before. We walked down the beach and although it was only a short distance I was offered in no particular order ganja, hash, cocaine(like a fat guy from Canada does coke....ooooops sorry Rob Ford) and various other instruments to get me right with Jamaica! :)

We arrived the game was on the Red Stripes were cold and the Jerk Chicken was just coming off the barrel!! Oh my it was a little slice of heaven. Stayed for five or so stripes and a few cigars! Then we headed back to the room where I sit now sharing this with you.

Karaoke at Travellers later on tonight so if you are in Negril and want to be blessed with my wife's beautiful voice you know where to find us. She's talented that way....I just used to beat people up for a living! :P

CC great to see you made it, got your groceries and bought enough beer for the week :-) I'm thinking it was the S.F. - Carolina game you got to see. (I'm a long time Patriots fan so I got my fix last night). We have 12 days till we hit the sand so it's your responsibility to get us through the DIF until then.
Remember, life is too short to behave. You have lots of time to recover when you get home :-)

Rum....The Condos are being run well as always by Jean and her staff can't speak to the Mariner's part of the complex. The bar is open...200J Red Stripes....and so is the restaurant. They are being run by a girl named Shondru. The food is good but basic and the service was good as well. Nicole is very friendly and we had a few laughs with her.

I will start off with the wifi is sketchy here so pics might be a bit difficult. I will try up by the office later on or maybe tomorrow.

We made it down to Travellers for Karaoke last night and it was a blast. The wife got to sing several times and there might have been a few Red Stripes drank at the bar. They have some really good staff there and I wouldn't hesitate staying there if I was given the opportunity. The Jamaican people were surprised as always to hear my wife's voice. She sings like and angel and has a very powerful voice so there was a lot of hooting and hollaring. I will share some videos when I get a chance.

Napped and now up for another day. Not sure what we have planned for today....maybe go find some trouble. Have a good one folks.
