A few pics from our trip!

We are long time visitors to Negril and have always travelled in the off season. I have always wanted to visit in the high season particularly Christmas or New years. This year, due to some credit card Reward Points expiring soon we decided to use the points for a New years trip. Our little adventure would only be for 5 nites, but at least we would be in Negril. We have used Rocky's Tour & Transportation for transportation for a number of years and this year would be no different as we always get prompt and reliable service. Our driver for the ride to negril was Dwayne, and he was very nice.

We stopped for a drink on the way to Negril at a little rum bar called Chill Spot Sports Bar & Grill in Lucea. It is just past the Palladium Resort on the way to Negril and the bar is on the waterfront. It was our first taste of Appletons this trip and a little meditation at the waterfront made a great entry to Jamaica.

Twenty minutes and out of the airport.

Is Chill Spot the one that Wayne owns. I know one of Rocky's drivers stopped at a place much like that on our way in last year to deliver some stuff.

It was past sunset by the time we reached Negril. We made a short stop at HiLo for supplies and soon we were checking in at Negril Escape. This was the first time staying at Negril Escape and most likely will be the last time. I'm not usually real picky when it comes to hotels but this place is in need of some updating. Water pressure was very poor as was the supply of hot water, and don't get me started on how poorly the toilet flushes.

Hey Justchuck. We are thinking of booking @ Negril escape. So, like there's not much hot water ? and the toilets,???? What about the food? Drinks? Service? Beds? Thanks for your response. Farmer

Hot water and water pressure has been a problem there for years.
However, the food is good, the location is nice nice and they're had good staff over the years.'
Hope it doesn't deteriorate because it's a great cliff property.

We stayed at Negril Escape this past June, and we had exactly the same experience. I won't stay there again until they make some improvements.

The room being repaired in the 3rd and 4th picture of post #8, is that in the Kashbah building? My wife and I had that room reserved, but when we arrived we were given a room in the India building, because the Kashbah building was being gutted. My wife was not pleased. It's a shame, because it could be a beautiful resort.

However, your pictures make the place look AWESOME, justchuck!

I had the same exact experience staying there as well, I was just there the middle of December. The people there were great, but I will be staying someplace else next visit. Your pictures are awesome though!

This is a picture of the building that was gutted, although I don't know the name of the building. It is somewhat disheartening to know that others have been having the same plumbing problems as much as 6 months ago. These are issues that need to be fixed.

We weren't going to let the plumbing issues spoil our trip. Our first full day we decided to take the bus to the Boardwalk for some sightseeing and shopping. Negril Escape runs a bus each at 11AM to its sister property, The Boardwalk. The bus returns at 3 pm.

Yep, that is the Kashbah building. When we stayed there it was in pretty much the same state of disrepair. At least they are doing work in it now.

The Boardwalk Village is a nice spot to spend a day. No higglers on that section of beach, but we got bored after a while and took a walk. Also, a busload of cruise ship people got dropped of there, half way through the day.

I have to check out Boardwalk village on my next reach.

While visiting the Boardwalk we walked next door to Our Past Time Villas to check it out. We had never been there before as it is way to the north end of the beach amongst the all-inclusives.

The bar and staff were very nice and we enjoyed a drink. We asked to see a room but the place was fully occupied so that was out.

justchuck, thanks so much for the trip reports and pictures, keep them coming. Can't say I'm too excited with the prices on the lunch menu. 700 bucks j for a ham and cheese I'm hoping they at least use dijon...;)

After leaving Our Past Time we caught a cab to head to the main area of beach. We got dropped off at Seasplash and made our way south. It was good to see that the sand had replenished itself at Treehouse. When we were there in May the water was pretty much engulfing the bar. We did take a walk thru Country Country as we wanted to check out the newly installed pool.
