Best in the West or Ossie's can't go wrong with either.
Bourban Beach
we are going to Rooms feb 5 th, there is a jerk barrel guy who sets up almost each late afternoon right across the street from Rooms, he also has conch soup, awesome, we eat from him about 7 or 8 times during our 2 week stay, soon come

Bourban Beach for sure. We like Best of West as well as Ossie's, but Bourban Beach is our favorite and is just a short walk from Rooms.
Best in the West fan myself. Best thing is to get out and try a few and make that decision for yourself.
We did five different ones last year. Not including the street vendors.
Don't forget to try the chicken foot soup!
Thanks guys - I love Best in the West, but don't consider it "close" to Rooms. Mr Nutz can't walk too far, so when I say close, I mean close - like across the street :)
JamaicaRob - any idea what the guys name is? Any tips or thoughts on Rooms?
i call him SOUP MAN, my room from Rooms faces him on the road, i just yell out my order and he will even bring it across the road for me, soon come
Look for a blue and white painted barrel with the words blue dandy written on it.. He has GREAT GREAT chicken. Bourbon beach has great chicken and chips too. Neither tooo far, but I like to walk.
Step-aside aka Marshall, should be right in that area, in front of Mariposia I believe.
I think he has some of the best chicken on the beach, and I always bring back some of his jerk sauce.
Every day, around noon, a guy sells jerk pork on the beach. He wanders by, and normally stops at Rooms, to see if anyone wants some. He has either hot or not. I once heard that its Red Dragon jerk pork. This guy picks up at Red Dragon and sells on the beach. So, realistically, you dont even have to leave Rooms property. If you just watch, you'll get Fruit lady, patty guy, dessert guy, nuts guy, cigarette guy, juice guy, even ice cream guy!.
There are a lot of "vendors" that just get "no thank you". But dont brush everyone off, there's some great food to be had!!
Try Biggs,,we think he is one of the best on the beach road by Hidden Paradise!
I like to try a few of the different vendors as each of them has different spices they use, their "secret recipe". On my last trip to Rooms there was a guy across the street, looking forward to finding my favorite this trip :)

not jerk chicken but Colletta has a nice cookshop across the street from Rooms - when i arrived in negril - this was my first stop - couldn't decide between the curry goat and the oxtails --- she made me a container with some of both - yummy! she does a nice breakfast too

Are you talking about Dean the jerk pork guy? He has good pork, not sure if it's Red Dragon pork though. Does Miss Cortiss (the fruit lady) work that stretch of beach or is it someone else?Quote:

Right across the street from Rooms is the Soup guy that makes jerk chicken and next to him is Jah b's they have a great menu with the best fried chicken you will ever eat. There are a lot of good places to eat by rooms.
about 70 percent of our dinners are from Jah bs and the soup mon/jerk chicken barrel guy across from Rooms, soon come
