So....just did the first run through of the clothes...first run is to see what fits...now to see what I want to bring. I'm thinking Negril looks pretty casual...I have my favourite maxi dress I found at a vintage store. Mints from the 70's. Guess that makes me vintage since I was a teen/young adult then!
Don't forget your thong bikini....LOL

That's good advice! I always end up wearing a few things over and over again anyway...I do like good food and good drinks. Don't really un ya lot of souvenirs.
We have a lot in common. I'd rather go naked than wear a thong as well. I hear Firefly has a nude beach! That's probably why we booked at the White Sands. Can you really call it a nude beach if you're the only patrons on the whole beach that are nude? Regardless, to each their own. We've never been to Negril or Jamaica for that matter but in 8 days we will have our first of probably many visits. Cheers and have a great trip!Quote:

Men don't need as much clothing variety as the gals, but my best time was when I went and only had a carry-on. How about 7 bathing suits, 7 t-shirts, 3 pair of shorts and 2 pair of shoes. Try Fort Charles beach for nude beach / shyness. Saw 5 people in 3 days at the beach. Was deserted except for wind, waves and cute little sand crabs. Chilin-n-Negrilin. ya mon avry ting gonna be ahrite

Trying to get so we just have two carry on's and no suit case. It's tough so far as I have so many thongs to pack ;)
Packing list starting to get long. I don't need much but with wife and two young girls coming with me there will be a pile. Plus I am bring two old acoustic guitars for the beach guys. figure I can give one to a beach musician, play tunes with him through week and then give second one to another musician. soon come!

Don't think you will need pants...hardly ever gets below 70...go casual, have multiple bathing suits and quick dry stuff, things don't dry very fast there because of the humidity...sunglasses, sunblock, OTC meds like Imodium, antihistamines, aspirin, etc. water shoes or sandals. Money with lots of small bills for tipping. Camera, and don't forget to pack your "chill" ;) have fun!
My "chill" was packed a long time ago...I've ordered a travel beach shade tent to take along. Had skin cancer surgery this spring. I'm a sun worshiper but am gonna have to be rocking the shade. From what I read shade can be hard to find at The Rondel sometimes and since I love the beach I figured I'd bring my own..and that means I also have to pack at least two great sun hats.
I'm a "shade" person...just can't sit out there and bake...good idea about the travel beach shade
Sounds to me like you have it all under control - great idea about the guitars and the sunshade! We too love the shade, I can take the heat in the sun :)
No matter how few clothes we take, we always seem to bring some back unworn. Not ready to try carryon only though, we take too much other crap for that!
I can get away with just a carry on and a beach bag. 1 pair of pants , T shirt, sweater, and fleece hoodie all layered that I wear on the plane and can be used if cool and worn again on the way home. Then carry on with shorts, swimming suit, one nice shirt, tank tops and underthings with flip flops and sandals packed around the edges. The beach bag goes under the seat on the plane and has a one cup coffee pot and coffee cup if the hotel I am staying at doesn't have them in the rooms, small first aid kit, and other misc stuff with liquids in baggies on top for easy pull out at airport.
I used to pack clothes to wear during the day after I changed out of my bathing suit. I leave those behind now because I go from bathing suit and cover up right into whatever I am wearing for dinner.
according to my husband hahah i bring everything BUT the kitchen sink. i'd rather have it and Not need it instead of the other way around.
I'm with newfie. We bring 3 pc of luggage. I want it all! Of course 1 pc is for our wine and floaties.
heater ~ I do the same thing. Used to pack outfits for the day...another for night....then coverups, bathing suits, MANY different pairs of flip flops and sandals...No more. I'm not down to just a carry on....but realized after a couple trips, I came home with WAY more not worn clothes.

No, not really! I take some fun sundresses for the evenings and that's about as fancy as I get.
I love my maxi dresses and my denim skirt...it goes with everything..
How many bathing suits should I pack? gerryg123 takes like 5 bathing suits and a thong so I'm told :-) I planned on taking one bathing suit. Should I be worried about fashion/style on a day to day basis wearing the same suite? Should I be wearing the same suite every day? If I do that: "will people whisper "he wore that same suite the last three days, can you imagine!" I just figured with the salt water and chlorinated pool the suite won't be dirty and very wearable day after day. I'm so confused! How about flip flops. I'm taking one pair, brown in colour. Should I be taking 2, 3 or 4 pairs of a different colour that match my 5 pairs of shorts? What if they don't totally coordinate with my shorts and shirts, will people talk? Maybe I need a suite case. How about my beer sleeve. It's blue, not ocean blue but navy blue. My shorts are brown, taupe and one pair has a mild checkered pattern, none of my shorts have blue in them. Should I buy a new beer sleeve, say something neutral in colour? Damn, I should have booked with Firefly where clothing is optional, could have packed a red beer sleeve to match my complexion and all would be good:-)
jamadian i am rolling laughing right now def. go for the red beer sleeve to match your complexion and def more than 1 bathing suit. I have been here 3 weeks now done laundry every week and currently have about 10 pcs of clothing i haven't worn yet. but that's ok with me i may have a chance yet will be here for 6 more weeks. I actually wore a dress to church the other week which was one item i was sure wouldn't be worn, so you can never tell what may come in handy. Oh I could have used the kitchen sink LOL
I overpack every single trip!! I think after 29 trips, one would have this down by now. However, I must say that this year mi tinks me get it. Every single day I wear a swimsuit and a wrap or skirt. Gotta be ready for a swim when it gets too hot to handle. This is the normal daytime attire. Then, a shower and get ready for the evening. That really does cut down on the need to overpack. So, next visit...my plan is to pack mostly swimsuits, wraps, sandals (forget the heels etc..to damn uncomfortable to walk) and I do a LOT of walking. Some dresses/skirts for evening and a few casual outfits and I should be good to go. Now...if these plans are recalled when my next trip comes....we will be chriss.
Must admit that every single time I pack....the what if factor comes into play. Must be a female thing!!! I have been improving with time, so hopefully you can learn from our mistakes. As they say...pack less and bring more money!! :)
Now you aren't making fun of us women are you?? I think I'm gonna have to post my packing list when I get to that point. My husband would like to pack two pairs of shorts, one pair of swim shorts, about 5 thirst and maybe two gold shirts. I'm making him pack more cause otherwise either I'll end up washing them or finding someone who will or he will just keep wearing the same stuff...without the "washing part".Quote:

Hahaha, this is too funny!. I am THE worlds WORST over packer. Put it this way, my suitcase, well I can fit in it and there's still room for the stuff I need.

7 kgs of toiletries, make up, sun lotion, plasters, bug spray, upset tummy tablets, nurofen, anti acid tablets, after sun, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, deodorant, rehydration salts, paramol
3 plug adapters
Camcorder
iPad
iPhone
2 books and a few other bits and bobs excluding the kitchen sink.
What I should've taken:
4 bikinis
4 vest tops
2 dresses
2 shorts
2 flip flops (one a bit snazzier than the other so could be a bit sparkly at night)
Shower gel and two in one shampoo and conditioner
Sun cream and after sun
iPhone and camcorder and 1 adapter.
Wedding stuff
With the 'should've' list I'd of probably STILL had too much. I do it every single time. I take enough clothes to last me two months. I'm a 'just in case' person and it drives my hubby mad (he has to get the case in and out the car and up any stairs etc, or else he looks 'horrible' with me struggling with MY case and him with his little case that he could actually take as hand luggage).
Summary: you won't need anything apart from a few bikinis, passport, camera, money and a cover up or two and some mascara,clear lip gloss and a big bottle of your favourite conditioner from home (hair gets very dry), oh and a maxi dress.
I am going to look back at this post I've written in a couple of months when I pack to go away. Actually, I'm going away tomorrow (UK mini break) and I haven't packed yet LOL.
I miss Negril, been back home for a month and I can't wait to press the 'confirm' button when I book to return to Paradise!!!

Good idea to focus on the little things like TWO atm cards in case something happens to one of them. Plus lots of chapsticks and zip lock baggies (for cell phone) and TONS of lighters. When I go out, I bring two lighters, one for me to use and the other to replace the first one that gets lost. Extra charger cord in case god forbid something happens to the first one, and I also find it convenient to bring a big pool towel. Also, this past time I brought my own high-quality pillow as a carry-on, which was awesome for the flight; sometimes hotel pillows are not comfortable enough (or the pillow case is worn out, so it's a good idea. Also tin foil and paper plates and red drinking cups come in handy -- those items are expensive in Negril.
