Will be arriving in a scant few weeks - can't wait! Could anyone tell me the most convenient Scotia Bank en route from Mo Bay to Negril? I'd like to pick up some money so we can get some groceries and many Red Stripes for the fridge when we arrive. Scotia doesn't charge me for withdrawals so those ATMs would be preferred. Thanks!
There is one right next to Jerky's Restaurant and the Hi-Lo.
There's a Scotia ATM within Mega Mart, very close to the airport on the way to Negril. You can also pick up beer, alcohol and anything else you'll need....including a Lime desk.
What's a Lime desk, dare I ask?
LOL ....... Lime is one of the cell phone companies in Jamaica. If you have a JA cell you can top up your minutes there.

We thought it would be a snap being a Scotia Bank customer here, but it's not. You are just like everyone else in the bank's eyes.
M&G M, I'm actually not a Scotia Canada customer. I'm from the states, and read that if I am a Bank of America customer there are no ATM fees at the Scotia Bank ATMs. Can anyone verify this? Just looking to be efficient about changing over money. If not, I'll just go to the Cambio.

M&G, I opened a Canadian Scotiabank account for Jamaica trips. They told me at the branch here that I'd have to pay fees in Jamaica, but I've done two trips with it and I don't pay fees. Many other Canadians have the same experience. Someone else posted within the last few weeks (Booger, I think) that it's the Jamaican ATMs that have the $15,000j transaction limit, but you can keep on withdrawing with subsequent transactions until you reach your daily limit.
Booger also reported that the B of A accounts now charge fees at Scotia ATMs in Jamaica.
We are Scotia Canada customers and have made several withdrawals from Scotia ATM's in MoBay & Negril - not once have we been charged a fee. All the ATM's (that I've used) allow withdrawals $30K JA at a time; the only time I couldn't get that much was when the ATM was getting low on cash, it would only let me take $15K. Can't speak for going into the actual branch, but definitely no extra charge for using the ATM in Jamaica :)
That's right 2nutz, thanks for clarifying, I've only used ATMs not gone into the bank. Also, I was distracted when posting, the transaction limit is $30,000, but there are times when you can only get $15,000 (actually haven't encountered that personally). :)Quote:
