Where to stay for 4 extra nights in December?
I booked our flights this morning for our Christmas/NY trip with my Aeroplan miles. I couldn't get anything for Christmas or Boxing Day, but I was able to get the direct flight on the Saturday before. So now we'll be there for 2 weeks instead of 10 days :) We'll be staying on the beach for 10 days (at Charela), but we don't really want to stay in one place for the full 2 weeks. Any suggestions on where to stay for the other 4 nights? We've stayed at Catcha and loved it, so that's a possibility. I also thought maybe we'd stay on the beach, but a different part of it? We want to be either on the beach or the cliffs, so places like Seastar aren't an option for us. Budget isn't crucial, but it would be nice to find somewhere a little less expensive than Catcha...
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Try Blue Cave Castle. They have a section on their website http://www.bluecavecastle.com/ for online reservations. It will give you the availability for whatever your dates are in December.

Thanks HuskerJohn - the Castle has always intrigued me :) Not sure Mr Nutz would be keen to stay there since they don't have a pool, he's not comfortable with stairs/ladders to the sea. I think I'll put it on the list though...

The Castle would be my first recommendation also. For another beach option I would recommend Treehouse.

Check out puregardens. Their pool is awesome!

I know you like to socialize with bar and restaurant onsite, but I really loved the rooms, sea view, price, pool and staff at Le Mirage. It's right beside Tensing Pen so you could go there for meals, as well as Aubee's, Sharks, Ras Roddy's are less than a 5 minute walk. Wise Choice also within 5 minutes. Very close to Catcha as well. It may be too quiet for your tastes but great location. I started my last trip there before moving to the beach and enjoyed the quiet to chill and the fantastic location to cliff restaurants. Ground level rooms walk right out to the wonderful sea view pool. It's Charela's sister resort so you could probably ask to have your transfer arranged gratis.
Or, if you really want the socialization and Catcha amenities, you could look at Pisces there.

Westendgirl loves it there as well. Really don't like that there's no onsite restaurant, that's the only drawback for us.

I love Mirage! But, probably too quiet for you.
Re: Where to stay for 4 extra nights in December?
We loved our stay at Catcha but we would have to stay in one of the big newer rooms if we stay there again. We stayed in Pices and it was really noisy all night, every night with dogs barking and motorcycles screaming up and down the road.
Re: Where to stay for 4 extra nights in December?
If we were to stay at Catcha again, it would have to be Coral. Sadly, we were spoiled for anything else. I couldn't walk by it every day and know I wasn't staying there :)
We're thinking of trying Xtabi - we've been there on bar crawls but that's it - any thoughts on which cottages are the best?

1 and 4 are the largest, with 2 bathrooms (outdoor shower) and kitchenettes. Both have a loft bedroom. #4 has stairs, #1 a ladder. I don't know if any of the other cottages have a fridge. I was going to stay in #4 last April but when I reduced my stay to 2 nights, they wouldn't let me have it. I think they offered #6 instead, but at the same cost, I didn't go for it and was disappointed with them. It didn't say on the website there was a minimum stay after April 15th - I had booked through Negrilonestop almost a year in advance and they were surprised too. Maybe they'd let you stay for 4 nights, but wise to check, and get it in writing if they ok it.

Thanks Melody - btw - you really need a new ticker :)

Tell me about it :(. So hard to let the WJ sale go by without me! Have to do the financially responsible thing for a while...
Now that I think about it, you may run into the same minimum stay issue at many hotels that time of year. Perhaps you'll get lucky and they'll have an opening for your dates between other reservations.
Re: Where to stay for 4 extra nights in December?
According to NegrilOneStop - "7 day minimum stay between Dec 24 and Jan 6" - since we'd be leaving on the 24th, we should be (hopefully) good. I've contacted them to see what's available, so we'll see. Coral is available at Catcha if all else fails :)
