We have something to say boardies too
I have met all sorts of great people on this board. Thank you for the laughter, wisdom, good times, beers, sandwich, smiles, crazy dancing, late night yep I do not remember either, cliff jumping, haggling, Bob Marley shooting, domino slapping, picture taking, waitress service in the water, saying Ya Mon too much, looking out for sharks, dealing with the bawd boys who hassle my wife when I'm not around, and the late night Mi Yard porch talk friends, companions, acquaintances, what have you.
8 trips in 2 1/2 years is cause of you......
booger and pooper
Re: We have something to say boardies too
I thought of naming names, however my fear of leaving someone out prevents this. I will say it is many. And the last thing I want anyone to assume is that I am part of a clique. So if you go to Negril and party everyday, smile A LOT, socialize with like minded peeps, seek out good food and cold beer, keep the drama to a minimum, show respect, well please include me in your clique.

Booger, did you just find out you have a terminal disease or something? I remember when I first met you, on the board, and I thought Booger was your dog. Thought it was a really weird relationship. Much too close for a dog. When I ascertained that it was your precious baby girl I laughed some much at my ignorance. You are certainly a unique colour in this rainbow. Respect

Absolutely, met some great people over the years! Not just the fun and friendship though...I appreciate all the information shared. New places to check out. Trip reports. It's the contributors that make this a great place!
Booger, people will always form groups...travel at the same times, common interests etc. You're only part of a clique if you do not readily allow others to join your group of friends... I think sometimes other people make assumptions that certain people are cliquey...ya know?! You sir, are certainly not ;)
Re: We have something to say boardies too
This is something I posted recently in another thread in reference to some of the silliness that has been going on here and elsewhere of late. It fits here as well:
In the 15+ years I have been a regular participant in this forum I have seen this cycle repeat itself many times. I have checked out other boards but this is still the one I come back to daily. Things have changed quite a bit here over the years much like Negril itself. Many have left, some that I considered friends and some I still do. But invariably new people join and add their own unique viewpoints and perspectives. Because of that it always feels fresh. Jah knows I don't always agree with Rob but I have always believed "his board, his rules" and tried to respect that and I consider Lisa and him dear friends. You will never know how much I appreciate everyone here and their contributions. Some days it's all that keeps me going between trips. Being able to come here and dip my digital toes in the water is something I try not to take for granted.
Bless...
Ed

Re: We have something to say boardies too
When I created the Negril Message Board on July 31st, 1997, it was something I knew was needed so that all the folks that had been emailing me would be able to be able converse with each other, and plus it would cut down on my email load.... (grin)

Little did I know that the "Boardie" phenomenon would arise so quickly that within 1 week I would need to upgrade the server because "wi mashed up da machine mon!" The traffic on our Negril Message Board had surpassed most traffic anywhere on the internet back then.

It is a privilege to create a place for so many people who share an interest in Negril to come together and meet each other, be it here online or in person in Negril, or even in their hometowns!
We have had thousands of people come and go over the years, and we have lost some dear friends, from 2Negril to most recently Nick. We miss all of them - they had become like family.
I have had the incredible opportunity to meet, heck, probably well over 100,000 of you over the past 19 years of Negril.com - and that has been a wonderful thing to experience.
And all this has been made possible by the fact that you "Boardies" have felt comfortable enough to join our Negril.com online family through our Negril Message Board. You write to each other, you are helpful answering questions and you form friendships that can last a lifetime.
Thank you all!
Re: We have something to say boardies too
Big ups Booger, Rob, and all Negril.com
Re: We have something to say boardies too
Kidrick, my buddy....
great post, booger...
my first time to negril in 09, we found negril.com about a week before we went....we stayed at grand pineapple, and wondered around aimlessly...had such a great time, we havent vacationed anywhere else...by the time our next trip rolled around, because of the board, we were not staying AI, we were doing webcasts, pub crawls, route taxis, cheap red stripes and food, like we had been going for years.....all because of the trip reports, the lovely pictures everyone posts, the sharing of info when deals pop up....and all the great people I have met came from this board....
Re: We have something to say boardies too
Negril.Com has the Real folks who know Negril, unlike the "vanilla boring" Trip Advisor of which I was expelled from 5 years ago?

Hi Boogs. It was so great to meet you and Pooper and your daughter and your mother and Tizz and her kids this Dec. What a surprise to see you coming through the gate at Nirvana and recognizing you from trip reports here. Just awesome
Re: We have something to say boardies too
100,000 people met over the years!!!! Rob, but I'm special aren't I ? Rob I'm special, right? Oh Rob, 100,000? I never knew.
Re: We have something to say boardies too
Dash,
No worries - I will remember you! (grin)
Man, just last night I had about 100 boardies come up and say hi at Seastar - it was packed! And about half of them were introducing themselves for the first time. Many of them called themselves "lurkers" but they are as much "Boardies" as anyone else and it was tremendous to meet them!
You guys are great!
