Ever miss your flight home???
Boy was I am a mad mama....not really -but my daughter missed her flight home, first time she ever missed a flight.....car trouble. she flew Sunwing, so she would have had to wait a full week for the next flight...so she had to pay for a new flight.. kids. I have had some close calls, it's so hard to leave.
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
I havent.....thanks to the drivers insisting on leaving sooooo early, lol! Sometimes I get frustrated at them for pushing me to leave early but I know its for the best!
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Yes got caught with a bit of ganja. Ended up in a free room for a couple nights but it was costly to leave
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Twice...once when I was a kid...slept in but managed to get another flight at no extra charge (good 'ol days) :) ...second time they'd not informed me the flight had changed.
LaPurr...it's sad the driver didn't grab another driver & get your daughter to the airport on time...would have been so easy smeasy! Or, was your daughter driving a rental car? That would suck!
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
in 1985 I was very late for the plane, my wife had boarded, and the steps were away from the plane, I got through security waving to the plane, the plane stopped, and the stairs were pushed back, I made the flight...they were quite upset with me........that was the last time
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
I try and try to miss it but my husband will not let me :)
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Worse! I missed a flight to Negril ! Can you imagine an expression on my face, when I was told by Air Canada desk person ; eeeee, sir, your flight left 22 hours ago. Those just after midnight flights to Toronto are still confusing to me..
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Never missed a flight, but have been known to be trying to arrange a later flight 15 minutes before my driver was due to pick me up :)
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
That's funny Walter. Last year we extended our trip to Puerto Vallarta by one day. We got back to our hotel room our last night to discover a message on our phone. It was Air Transat and they were wondering if we were OK because we missed our flight. We got screwed up with the 8 days, so what was supposed to be our last night was yesterday. That ended up costing big time. $400 each to catch a flight to Regina, not Saskatoon where our vehicle was. Plus a night in a crappy AI hotel as the hotel we were staying in was fully booked. On top had to pay for our extra night at original hotel, plus the car rental, which was expensive as we were dropping in a different city than P/U. I would say we learned our lesson.

As much as my kid loves negril this was her first time staying in St.Elizabeth, with a group of girls for her best friends moms wedding... So she was in the country...and I guess rides are not as accessible ? Is this true?
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Walter yes those red eyes get confusing , is agree. LoL NIkki, always a way to get around that...
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
As a credit to Air Canada, for some $ 40, or $ 60, they booked me in and I arrived without any problems in Negril. My dear wife, was not surprised at all, because [as a result of my confusion] she was simply expecting me that day.
Well, eventually I confessed to the whole thing. O boy, she still recollects it, often ! It will never go away.
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Went to the Blue Hole up in Roaring River during our stay and the Rasta that took us there said there was plenty of time to go back before our flight. The was our first trip mind you. As the thread title leads you to believe we were nowhere near on time for our flight. After a small freak out we ended up doubling our flight costs. Had to get a room at Gloriana's in Montego Bay and made the best of it. Checked out the public beach down the road from Toby's the next morning and took a walk down to the casino. Expensive lesson learned..........Leave transportation to the trusted professionals.

Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Yes I have but on purpose. I would call my job and say I got stuck behind a road block on the way to the airport and back then only charter flights so I had to wait a week to get back lucky me:))
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Linston and I have discussed this and here's what we think.......
If he gets you there early no big deal...... if he gets you there late you'll be pissed at him or the airline or somebody..
Remember you do this once or twice a year...he does it every day
You can't tell what's going on up North and how the flights are running or how many will be in line at the ticket counter
A trustworthy driver is just that...trust his judgment

I can't imagine why drivers would be less accessible...
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
Well, almost missed the flight.... Last year, we arrived at the airport in plenty of time. Checked in, made sure the times & flight was on time etc. Checked the big flight board. Wife and went to our boarding gate, settled in. Then went shopping, and I waited til the end to buy the booze, Then I heard wifey yelling at me..."Their calling our names on the loudspeaker"!!!! Holy crap! Then I heard it too! The plane is going to shut the door, and take off, So, I proceed to do the O. J. Simpson run, leaping over chairs, little children {just kidding} Wife is behind me, and here to find out, they had changed the boarding gate on this particular flight, since we thought we were good to go, and still in that drowsy contented state of mind, after just spending 10 amazing days in Negril ! I guess we just didn't hear about the gate change. So, we get to the new check-in gate, and I'm just dying !!! Ya, know "out of shape" 50 something guy. Literally, thought I was going to have to lay down right there on the floor in front of the TSA guards. They sent wife thru, and lo and behold, the guards held me back! Had to do all the security things, swabbed me completely, shoes & socks off, opened up the carry on luggage, went through all that, kinda took their sweet time too! Then they decided I'm o.k. to get on the plane, finally!! Oh my gosh, the looks we received from the other passengers as we walked down the isle !!! If looks could kill. So, wife and I were split up, and I sat down by a nice older lady, and she assured me that we weren't the only ones to have not heard the message earlier about the gate change, but since we were the last ones to get on the plane we took the brunt of the stares. So, I guess don't always take for granted that evry'ting is kocher with boarding gates and or times. But, hey you know what I'm talking about when I mentioned that feel-good state of mind after spending time in paradise....Negril !!!
Re: Ever miss your flight home???
never "missed" a flight but got re-booked at the airport --- with hotel and food voucher --- went back and got my subs at the hotel - if I have some left I always leave a "starter kit"- I can't bare to throw it away - check behind the pictures - way back in the drawers - or the drop down ceiling - found enough in the drop down ceiling one year to finance my entire holiday - vacation redux --- I was back on the beach so fast --- didn't wait for the tourist bus to tuck us all into our beds --- let's see I probably had at least 15 free days on Air Jamaica --- and even one nice layover in Orlando --- couldn't land in Atlanta due to weather --- they cushed us up at Marriott Orlando --- with food and phone cards - best day to get this treatment - the work day following the holidays ---- hey boss - i'm delayed lol
