So we are here in Paradise
We arrived on Sunday night. Stopped at Mega Mart - bought groceries but had to use credit card as scotia bank was down.
The weather is awesome the ocean is warm.
Yesterday morning we walked from Bloody Beach to Alfreds.
Stopped on the way back to Myrnas Bar for a beer - 140 Jama0ican dollars.
Nice walk-no problem with Higglers since we were out early.
We ate at Ciao Jamaica - they offer free pickup and return.
Had an excellent dinner - I had the scotch bonnet grilled snapper and my husband had the shrimp scampi's. We also ordered a Pizza to go - it was sooo good, they make excellent pizza.
Just making some local java - high mountain coffee. Coffee is great, no acidity and smooth and of course with some rum cream.
Today we are spending day at beach and getting into a good book.
Chow for now!

Yah its a little passed Sandy Haven. Funny situation - we were enjoying our ice cold beer and two nice Jamaican ladies rubbed some gel from the aloe plant on our backs and shoulders - felt great -they were looking out for us pasty white Canadians.
Yah we are planning to hit Seastar on Saturday!

Had a great day at the beach. Started my Grisham book. We went to Cosmos for dinner - also provide free pick up and return. Wow my first time trying conch - awe so good. Had conch soup and conch bites. Hubby loved the grilled king fish.*We would definitely go back. Good prices for wine and beer too. Tomorrow we made arrangements for live lobsters to cook.

Re: So we are here in Paradise
Having so much fun - such a small world here in Negril -met a family whom we initially met last year at Montego Bay Airport. Went to Seastar and my husband met a co-worker from Toronto.
Today we walked the beach to the west end, the morning sun is the best!!! Of course, stopped at Myrna's for a beer then proceeded to the round about.
We had a craving for a good burger so we took a route taxi to Aubee's. We both got the mini burgers(450.00/each) and they were awesome and filling for a mini.
Also had a ceasar from Seastar and they were sooo good - that was my clamato fix (can't find Clamato).
Beautiful morning pic from Treehouse.Attachment 33592

Just love the shopping experience at Hi-Lo. Helpful in store and also helped carry bags and flag taxi. OK we love jerk and could not believe what we found. It was so tasty - a nice smoky flavour with a little bit of a bite.

Wow, thanks Kylake for you recommendation of lobster at Fireman's Pit. How fresh, right from the sea to the grill - perfectly grilled and basted.

Went to Café Goa, we got 2 lbs of Blue Mountain green coffee beans that we will roast at home. Great place to buy Blue Mountain (roasted or green) and to stop and enjoy a cup of coffee.

We had our Valentines dinner at Sandy Haven but unfortunately we forgot camera. Excellent deal of 60.00/couple - 5 course meal with champagne. The food was fantastic!!! I had the beef tenderloin and my husband had the stuffed chicken breast. Soooo amazing from soup to main to dessert. Had such a satisfying dinning experience.
We are enjoying a few night caps and sitting out here listing to the waves crash against the rock.

Re: So we are here in Paradise
Have a safe trip home and thanks for sharing. Question, how do you roast the green coffee beans at home?
-
Re: So we are here in Paradise
Very impressive lobster. That's about as big as they get in Negril.

Gerry that lobster was a little over 3 lbs - my husband and I shared. Wow, Fireman had bigger ones in that trap - up to 5lbs.

We choose green beans because they are smaller (they get bigger once roasted) -easier to pack and cheaper. A friend of ours roasts their beans in a hot oven on a baking sheet - but you have to be careful that they do not burn. I roast them on stove in a heavy cast iron pan, stirring constantly. When they go through the first crack (like popcorn) it will be a light roast. You continue to stir until the desired colour depending on what type of roast you want, light, medium or dark. For a dark roast, it will go through 2 cracks but take off the heat right away. Pour the beans on a baking sheet to cool. We love Blue Mountain coffee and cant wait to try fresh roasted.
