Things I've learnt from the forum...

Just a few of my observations as a newbie to Negril...and this is before I've even been there...

- Ting is a great local soda and mixes well with rum or vodka
- Great jerk chicken is located in a lot of places, especially in barrels
- If you're into it you can smoke "sweet" grass most anywhere
- Over proof rum is very strong
- Dancing permitted wherever
- Wear a thong or nothing at all (I have a feeling I'm going back to the 70's)
- Ackee is a fruit that looks like eggs when cooked..who knew..
- Red Stripe is Jamaican beer...ok...that was a no brainer
- Dirty bananas are a good thing
- Conch soup is apparently really good..I thought conch was just for listening to the ocean
- The cliffs and da beach are too separate areas
- Boardies are family..
- Ya Mon
- and always.... "Respect"

Soon come....
I think I'm going to like Negril

Chris55,looks like you have a good idea of what's what. Negril is my favorite place on the planet and I will look forward to hearing what you think after the fact. Once you go you really do know!

Chris55, it is "Respec". Ask locals.

You also learned what to do & what Not to do.How much to pay for things and how to be smart & safe.

Dirty bananas are to die for. It's a main staple of my diet in Negril. If you like dirty bananas, you should also try a Hummingbird. Conch soup is really good and so are conch burgers. And you should also try pumpkin soup, and if you're brave, cow hide or chicken foot soup.

Also leave the bling at home and everything is negotiable

And dont' walk for miles your first day on the sand or you may not be able to walk the next day :D

Nude Beaches do not attract models and weight lifters:
You will saggy boobs, saggy butts and saggy balls....

I don't want to be nude to the rude,as I have been nude myself....But???

We were eating at the Firefly and the nudes (who were covered) were SOOOOO boring?????

Yellowbird, White Sands, Palms Resort on the beach and Xtabi on the cliffs (IMO).
