Rhodie was released back into Samuel's Bay yesterday. He dove straight down and landed on a stingray then headed out to sea and it was all caught on video.

Thank you some much for this post. Many blessings sent to you, jvma.org, and all that respect the sea environment. Did I miss the video on the site. I would love to see that!!
I hope Rhodie hangs around the reef there so I can say hello, next time I snorkel there! :)

Yetta - Thank you for acknowledging this unique event posted on this forum. We assume Rhodie will be out there in Samuel's Bay as everyone snorkeling or scuba diving will be looking for a sighting. We understand he will probably hang around for awhile then make his way out to sea. Rhodie likes sea sponges and seaweed as he is a vegetarian. As soon as we secure a copy of the film we will post it for everyone to enjoy. It is unclear as to why Rhodie was in a comatose state. However, he came out of it and that is fine with us. We also found out that many sea creatures get hit by those menacing jet skis.
Again, thank you for your post and we wish Rhodie a long and productive turtle life.
Love the positive story behind Rhodie!-hope he would be there when we get there to snorkel
Awesome story - would also love to see the video. I have a soft spot for sea turtles...
We would love just to see one in person;)-but I know we would have a softer spot for them even more in person!
We've been to a place in Mexico where you can snorkel with them. I can just float and watch them forever, they are so awesome! First time there, one was surfacing for some air and came within about a foot of me. I've been hooked ever since...
^^^-I bet sounds like a sight to see and enjoy!-I guess no web cast today at Rhodes;(
We all fell in love with Rhodie and our good friend and staff member "Delroy Swaby" released Rhodie back into the great blue abyss. Everyone was holding back tears as he was set free. Thank you all for your support.

This is short clip of Rhodie before he was taken to Kingston for help with the kind efforts of Pam Lawson from the JSPCA.
That's our boy Delroy Swaby!!!-he deserves a BIG shout out!!-Thanks for Rhodes Resort taking this sea turtle under there arms and getting it back to the sea!-congrats!!!
Cold front hanging over Jamaica for the last several weeks. So no webcasts so far.
I kinda figured this crappy cold weather would hit y'all;( it's 29 here in south texas!!-very unseasonable weather for us and now y'all!!;(
This is amazing, I can't wait to see the video
Beautiful video!! For all those who want to see these wonders of the sea.....please know that it happens in Negril! I have been blessed to have seen several while snorkeling in Negril. We followed one for quite a long time while snorkeling near Blue Cave Castle, as well as near Xtabi...and of course, while snorkeling with Vincent. Granted, it is not an everyday occurrence.. but, when it happens, it is truly MAGICAL!!!!
The wonders of the sea opens a new world of wonders...even for those of us that are not young. Kind of like the thrill of your first roller coaster ride as a child. That is the type of wonder that consumes you when you see the beauties of the reef. Again, thank you all for this post and know that so many of us feel blessed to know that you strive to protect Jah's gifts to all of us.
Looking forward to seeing the video of his venture back to freedom. Big ups to all involved! :)
Wow! What a great story! Can't wait to see the video. Big ups to Rhodes Resort, another place I definitely want to check out soon.
