You don't see a lot of women tanning topless in JA and I don't think I've ever seen a topless female taking a walk on the beach. So, yes, I would think that people would stare :) and you might get a higher number of marriage proposals than normal!Quote:

Dear wife suns topless and used to walk the beach topless. She got more and more unwanted comments from Jamaican men in recent years, so she doesn't any more. Back in the 80's, Jamaican tourist advertisements (four color brochures before the internet) would advertise Negril showing a woman from behind wearing a bikini bottom, but no top. I believe that they were communicating a "topless OK" message without saying it out loud.

My wife has walked the beach topless on more than one occasion. Of course people stared.......she was topless! :) But no one said a word to her about being topless.
I say go for it!
We saw several topless sunbathers on the beach at SATP last week. I tried to stare in short durations :P
how was the entertainment there? food?

Entertainment there was kind of low key. karaoke/Piano bar crowd. Food was very good. Most nights we went off property or hung out on the deck.
Used to see more toplessness, but there more Europeans also. Your on vacation, be carefree and do as you please. No worries mon.
toplessness is much less prevalent than other areas of the Caribbean. And I have only seen one set of cans that made me go ..............

Howdy, seems years ago, the little "book" (negril Guide maybe?) asked you to dress to go on the road or into town.
don't think it's changed.
Usually see topless women a few times per trip. Don't mind a bit. Even on the youtube video of the jet-ski victim, there was topless lady trying to help.
As laid back as Negril is I would expect to see more titties.

Your comments about social media are dead-on.
I have seen this in many settings, such as festivals we attend. Social media has definitely negatively effected the free spirit people sometimes exhibit while on vacations.
Thanks for the answers & respones all. Very helpful. Glad I was able to get the message out that, at least for me, it's a comfort thing. I'm not huge but I'n not small either. Every time I walk the beach & I'm wearing a bikini top, that knot or strap on my neck reminds me of how nice it is to NOT have my top on when I'm in my lounger. When I first started going in the mid 80's there was lots more topless than the last 15-18 years.
We'll be down for our first trip ever to Negril in a month, and I guarantee my girlfriend will do her part to bring up the topless team numbers. Since her visit to a wonderfully skilled doctor she's a bit of a team all-star too! LOL
