Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
My last reach we sat on the big lifeguard chair at CoCo,,sunset, drinks & products.
We gave the singer guy with one leg, $1000J and he was below us & the sun setting in front of us. Told him to sing "his" songs, not touristy.
Last night, going home tomorrow at CoCo. Sun already set, getting showered to go eat somewhere... Then ?
We hear Drums from the beach,,we follow the sound and next door at Haven place the Seastar Drummers (3) doing a free show ?????? Danced then across the street for Best in the West.

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
Fred, how can you start a thread and steal my answer:) Every sunset I would grab a cocktail, climb up that lifeguard
stand in front of CoCo, and watch the sunset. Magical. Lucky I wasn't there when you and the wife were, it would
of been very crowded!!!

I don't know why more folks don't go up there? I mean there isn't a "lifeguard"??????
I told my wife I wanted to bring a whistle and sit there and tell swimmers to MOVE LEFT.

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
Last reach,,,we are hanging at Sunbeach next door to CoCo in a sunny afternoon (again)....
This guy with a guitar walks up,sits and sings and plays. He had a Very High voice. I said you're the guy who sings at Seastar last night? Yes.
He is very good and we had a Jamaican who sang Johnny Cash songs in his dialect. Very cool. Bought him drinks. Magical & Free !

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
The musician with the one leg...His name is Ermine, his song "Keep on doin' what you're doin' Sammy" is great. and the singer with the high voice must be Stephen West. Most moments in Negril are GREAT! Can't wait for some more moments in December! Respect, Irie

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
To sing karaoke with Sasanya & Okema {from Seastar} is a pretty cool great moment. One least great moment is doing the "dollar dance" on stage at Seastar. Sorry, honey you are soooo right.

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
I love Stephen West. I have two of his CD's and play them. I wish he played somewhere for the whole evening (not just a set).

Getting married at Sandals in 1992, scuba diving the next day and drinking purple rains in a huge rain storm in the hot tub after an amazing dive as newlyweds. To this day whenever we clink glasses in celebration we say SCUBA instead of CHEERS! So if you are in bar in Negril and you hear the couple next to you say Scuba and raise glasses, that's us. Join us for a drink won't you? We leave tomorrow for Jammi jam. See you there boardies!

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
Sorry, this experience is not all that recent but is my favorite Negril moment and we have taken 12 trips. in 2001 (our first Negril visit) we were walking in the cliffs area not knowing a thing about the cliffs. We walked on the side of a property to see the sun set as it was getting close. I guess it was a hotel resort though there were no people..just a huge lawn in the back. We were standing there looking at the ocean and a fella asked "would you like dinner?" (I thought he was going to tell us to leave). We said "sure, where will we be seated"? There was a gazebo right near the rocky shore with 3 tables I think. I told the waiter that we would like a fish dish any way the chef wants to make it. I asked for a Red stripe and I think he had to go across the street somewhere to get it. We watched the sun set by ourselves (this was our delayed honeymoon by a year) and the food was amazing. We can't find this place again though we search every trip. We will be back again in 7 days : ) We always stay at Treehouse. We took 1 year off to go to Boston.

Laying on the beach on a moonless night with my wife; looking up at the stars. It's amazing how many more stars you can see when you are away from a large metropolitan area.

Re: Your Latest Greatest Moment in Negril ***
My wife and I were fortunate enough to be invited to a private residence for a traditional Jamaican Christmas dinner. Met a lot of great people and the curried goat was delicious!!

I never knew about the Dead Yard. I just read up,very cool. Not everyone can just play the drums, you must have the spirit within.
I already have the book "The Dead Yard" didn't read it yet because I got it along with A Good Walk (which I passed on to a friend at CoCo ) I am motivated to read it now. Most drummers are of Maroons decent.
Now I know what a Duppy Band is. Thanks.
