Yes, we do have more info.... (grin)
Curious, I didn't know this. We're staying there mid april from recommendations of a family member and a couple friends. Hopefully they continue offering nice, simple, inexpensive accommodations in the future.
Yes they will - more info to come VERY soon!
Bartender at Firefly also told me that it was sold as of a couple weeks ago. I'll send them a quote request for our group for next year, and will do same for other nearby properties. I'll share whatever I find for best price for 07-18Feb15.
Oh Rob, are you hinting at something....... a boardie bash location maybe????:):)
will it stay clothing optional?
Rob...did you buy it? :o
On another thread someone said that FF is no longer CO, Does anyone have first hand information?
Info on this thread tahrheel, first post.

They are just finishing a big expansion to their deck. Much more room to eat and drink in the shade. Also I did not see and CO people there the last 2 weeks. Will take pic of deck and post later
:( It sounds like many here aren't clothing-optional fans. My husband and I just booked at Firefly, and then I came here to refresh my memory on a few things. When I saw this thread, I was disappointed. We like Firefly because it still offers C.O. at a more reasonable price than Couples or Grand Lido, and we prefer the location too. The Firefly website still states C.O. but it is looking like that isn't the case.
I should add that I registered for negril.com a few years ago, but have been more of a lurker. :o
Our upcoming trip is our 4th time to Jamaica (3 of those trips to Negril).
Signed, Lurker-No-Longer!
Always thought it was funny that Firefly advertised as a family-friendly place, yet was CO. Have been interested in staying there, but the CO always scared me away, especially since there is only the one beach area and no way to avoid seeing it.
I have no problem with CO, but the location of Firefly for this was not appropriate, in my opinion.
Hope to stay there some time now!
Firefly will be honouring C.O. guests for a while... at least those who have booked based on that option. Their website is not updated to reflect differently so I guess they have to for now. I just heard back from them regarding this, in an email.
I have pics to post taken this morning but I cannot see where to add them with this mobile Bulliten app.help anyone
LadyJane,
To see the full version of the forurm on your phone, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a link for "Full Site". click on that and you will see the full site just as you do on the other devices.
The mobile version is a much faster version for people to quickly check the board on their phones.
Thanks Rob
We are not nudists by any means. Just not comfortable witth it myself. (probably has to do with my gut!) LOL But that being said you are born nude, everyones got one, (or at least half has one and half has the other) I see no problem with it at all, anywhere. As most of you know we took the kids there and it couldn't have been less an issue. The girls would walk by and not even notice people. If your child makes a big deal about it than you have just laid your personal fears and hang ups squarely on your children. If a child grows up comfortable with their bodies and seeing others, thier self esteem will be miles higher. I was getting perturbed when I mentioned firefly because of the response it garnered. Every thread it was mentioned in some one would comment on the nudity. I think the whole beach should be that way for those who want to. More freedom, not less. this is a new millennium. Lets leave those puritan views about the natural body where they belong. in the past!
Well stated.
Never done it myself. Probably too many hang ups. But the puritanical objections (always prefaced by "I'm not a prude, but ....) under the guise of 'protecting the children' are IMO very misplaced.
Live and let live is my mantra. I respect those who prefer a swimsuit, just as I hope others will respect my choices :) As it turns out, we will still be at Firefly when the boardie party takes place on the 25th. I will make sure to keep my cover-up handy for quick dressing :D
I called the office today and got the same info as Georgia. If you have reservations they will honor your clothes optional choice. I was in a mild panic thinking my wife and I would be sitting around in wet icky bathing suits for 2 weeks.
Bob
Years back staying at hedonism I tried that nude beach thing, maybe its just me but when a attractive nude chick comes around I seem to be easily aroused, and found its easier to cover up a pitched tent, than just the pole, lmao.
At Hedo most wouldn't blink an eye unless you actually grew to the size of a tent pole :-)
We've been to many nudist places and I think most guys will climatize quickly so the tent pole doesn't usually happen. Unless of course you start dreaming about being in your tent with that attractive nude chick
Firefly contacted me to say that the license for a nude beach was not granted to them, so the option was NOT available at Firefly. We now have to consider a different place to stay. We like Firefly but mostly for that particular option, so we now have to scramble up another place - gah! Jaybyrd - you might want to cancel your reservation if that option is a make it-break it option for you.
I know that there will be good things that will come from the change of owners, and of course, I wish them luck; but no longer being CO will change the vibe of the place. The bohemian vibe is one of the things I loved most about FF even though I dont drop trou. It was like my shield against everythign and all the people that I dont want to be around when I'm in Negril...I just hope it doesn't turn into another place on the beach with beach chairs lined up practically on top of each other, filled with uptight people, kids and all the other things that "commercial" hotels cater to.
The new deck is about 6 or 7" off the sand and the it doubles the size of the bar area.
Some pics of the new deck and bar build from the past few days:

Georgia,
No Worries! It will be ready in plenty of time - we wouldnt have scheduled the event there if there was a chance it would not be done in time.
Yes, the bar is open and it's business as usual, well aside from the construction. I believe they are trying to have it ready for the party but maybe someone else with more intimate knowledge of the situation (Rob?) could answer. They were working really fast. I'm bummed I'm gonna miss it because it looks to be a great place for the bash. Always next year.
edit: just saw that he snuck in ahead of me.
We really enjoyed our stay at firefly. CO is not a deal breaker for us but it was nice. We met some great people there and it was a very quiet, serene place. I like the looks of the new bar, we will be sure to stop for a drink in June when we visit.
Great - thanks Rob and Mikey

I hope the construction isn't too crazy and intrusive, we're going to be staying there starting the 19th. The new bar and deck area looks nice though.
Depends what your definition of crazy and intrusive is. I was inspired to paint this when I got back stateside.
