Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
Hi, just left last night and home in Vancouver with major jet lag. Can't stop thinking about Thursdays snorkel trip and seeing the anchor and cannon by the reef. My husband thinks they were placed there. I really want to believe the pirate or shipwreck story. Can anyone contribute some insight?
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
They've been there since at least 1968.
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
It's what remains of Calico Jack's pirate ship that sunk in 1720 so a long time before 1968.

I got to Negril in '68 so that's what I know. However I think Mr. Glenn is correct.

How old were those guys and where did they get that information?
Just curious.
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
Maybe they're from Pirate Fred Stripe's adventures!
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
Not too old Captain. That's why I added "if true"
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
Awesome to see.... they said it's from a pirate ship... I want to believe that :o
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
I put em there in 1962 while treasure hunting. Had toss the cannons overboard to outrun the po po. Yes u read cannons. Two were removed and are at westender establishments, I'm sure u have seen them. Was also a metal treasure box, it's at another establishment.
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
I have seen them Tubes. I think I like your response second after the Calico Jack scenario. you can't beat a
good pirate story! Cant wait to go back for a second look. What was in the treasure box?

OmG, this has made my night. even better than the walking dead finale! If I was in Negril I would go snorkelling or diving to search for Calico's treasure, or Blackbeards or the two woman pirates, Anne Bonny and /or Mary Reid. I need some new jewellery! vintage is cool. Does anyone know of any verified remnants of the pirate days? I have been to the National Gallery in Kingston but not to Port RoyAl. maybe time for a visit?

Definitely get yourself to Port Royal. It was fabulous enough that I'm looking forward to going back!

Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
I have a Piece of 8 silver ring, bought at the Mel Fisher museum in Key West. The silver was taken up from the sunken Atocha he searched many years for.
After he found the ship his son or son in law died from a diving problem. Some say it was the curse of the Atocha.

Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
I saw a crevice like that at the Grand Canyon once.
I see a lost Chilean Minor ,,,,hold on were coming....
I see China.....
I put a rock between those and had a 4 carat diamond in 10 minutes....
Do you need a passport to go way down there ????
If she was sunk on the bottom of the ocean they would sell more tickets than the boring anchor. (wait ? how could she ever sink?)
If you Yell down there you get an echo.
She was hired only for her Journalistic skills ......Yeah,,,both of them....
Re: Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip
You crack me up Fredstripe.
Similar to your rock and diamonds.....If you put a few pebbles of sand down there you will get pearls!
