Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Hi Everyone,
Great Forum you have going here.
My name is Kieron from London. I am bringing my wife and 2 sons (19 & 20) to Negril on June 9 to stay at Charela.
Has anyone got any recommendations for breakast (good coffee, Juice, eggs and bacon styleee) in walking distance to the Charela Inn?
also 25 years (Gulp) we spent our Honeymoon at Sandals Negril does anyone know if the do a day pass so that I could take my kids around(not really interested in enjoying the hospitality)
Any help is much appreciated:cool::cool:
Thanks
Kieron

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Right next door is Chill Awhile, it is one of my favorite spots I had breakfast there every day while I was in Negril last February. About SN I know they do do passes however I do not think your kids will be allowed unless they are there for a wedding party.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Delicious banana pancakes at Chill Awhile as well as traditional breakfasts....and right next door! Make sure you get a massage by Sandra at Charela, very reasonably priced and a great lady!

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Country Country also has good breakfasts.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
you picked a great place for breakfast! we love the breakfast at Charela, wonderful staff in a nice open-air dining space.
(great coffee too)

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
If you don't want to 'enjoy the hospitality' at Sandals, ask for a tour, rather than spend a lot of money on 4 day passes.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Close by you is CoCo La Palm, if you want a good plate of bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, and to top it off, home made
banana bread, you can't beat it.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
I'm envious. You are going to love Charela - we were lucky and spent 19 days there this winter (and 30 years visiting almost every year). Charela has a great breakfast, bacon eggs fresh breads etc. We also like to walk up to Lena's Inn Thing at Donaldsons for their delicious Jamaican omelets (cabbage and carrots or callaloo). Don't forget to check out Best in the West for jerk chicken across the street. There's also a little store there - Mikey's for essentials like water and Red Stripe.

We stay at Coco but unfortunately the service has always been so slow, we won't eat there anymore. I can walk up to Country Country, have breakfast and be back in the time it takes to finish at Coco. Their food has always been good, but I don't want to waste my time waiting! Might have to check out Chill Awhile this reach for breakfast. We ate lunch there a few years back but weren't impressed.

Charela has one of the best breakfasts around. Country Country is also good. Want to try Donaldson's this year.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
We are not big breakfast people. When we went to CSA we enjoyed the room service breakfast. Did one buffet and one made to order. When we stayed at Idle Awhile we went to breakfast once at Chill Awhile and were underwhelmed. Instead we got fruit and bread from the beach vendors and ordered a pot of coffee in our room each morning. Last year we stayed at Charela Inn on their AI package and enjoyed every breakfast. Heck, we enjoyed every meal. We have dined around Negril a bit, but not for breakfast. We hit the beach early.

Charela has a great breakfast. They serve homemade croissants three days a week. They are delicious. They have good omelettes too. Their coffee is very good. I will say that it is nice to change things up a bit. Where is Donaldson's?

Walk up the beach or go down the road to Sandals. Tell them the truth and stretch it if needed. Just say, you spent you rhoneymoon there and were interested in the changes and would like a tour. If needed stretch to imply your son is looking for a place in Jamaica for his wedding. The $$$ of a wedding should get you the tour.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Just walked by Firefly early this morning; still not finished the
renovations on the bar. Still closed !

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
There is nothing quite as nice as breakfast at Charela. Such a great view and mellow vibe. I like to go down super early and just watch the beach waking up. That being said, walk up the beach a bit just past Country Country is Negril Tree House. They have an awesome breakfast buffet that is free if you are staying there or $13US pp if not.

Firefly's bar is now complete & has been open the whole time through the renovations...maybe you walked by before they were open for the day....

I will get a picture of the new bar later today when I pass it on the way to Rhodes Hall!

Dear Boardies
I'm overwhelmed with the responses!
Thank you all for your suggestions in particular for the Charela which I have now decided I will try out as a treat whilst we are there.
Mo Glenn you're are right I will try to wing it with Sandals, after all we did spend 3 weeks on Honeymoon there and my eldest has just informed about his new Girlfriend !!!

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
This past trip, we just bought bread and fruit from the vendors in the morning. We really didn't like eating breakfast at a restaurant, and missing the best part of the day on the beach. The previous years, we ate at CocoLaPalm for breakfast, other than once at Alfred's. Alfred's prices are much more reasonable. We aren't coffee drinkers, but I've heard Cafe Goa has very good coffee.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
We generally like to walk for a bit to Cafe Goa because that is our favorite. Coffee and "Angry" Bloody Mary's are great, and the Ackee can't be beat IMHO.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
the last 3-4 days of our 10 day beach stay we ate only @ Charela.
Attachment 35650
It was the only place that we didn't have to ask 3-4 times foe coffee, cream, sugar, water, etc.
The service was excellent and so was the food, eggs perfect. perfect toast & croissants.
Or worse yet @ one place I asked for my bill 5 times and I finally went to get it myself, and I was told
it was 15.50. I wanted to pay for it but the other lady said where is your bill, you can't pay for it
without the paper bill. I threw down a 20.00 and left. I was not waiting for change. Total breakfast time 2 hrs and 55 minutes
I would eat right where your staying.

Re: Breakfast recommendations around Charela Inn
Not really super close to Charela but I would be remiss to not mention my favorite breakfast spot: Alfreds.
