Kind of like a hot pocket.
patties are nothing like roti. roti is the best.
Half moon shaped, flaky pastry, filled with creamy spicy chicken, beef or veggie stew. Usually with a little bit of heat.
Norman actually had curry shrimp patties last week when I was there! Yum! I've bought patties from him for a long time, but I don't remember him having that flavor before. Also had cheese patties downtown somewhere. The beef patties remind me of Jack in the Box taco's (in a good way)- both have a certain bit of "mystery" meat quality to them. I'm missing all those patties all already...:(
Sounds delicious, thanks! Does sound kinda like a Roti, which I love!!
had a patty from Niah's last week. I got the Italian one which had cheese, tomatoes and onions. Was very good! Plus, he's a really cool guy! Also had a "chicken" one from Juicy Patties....that one didn't impress me at all. Niah's was hand-made and cooked in a wood fired oven.
The patties at OUT OF TOWN are oversized. The patties at Juici's are very affordable.
I really like the beef patties from Tastee or Juici, they're really good.
but I LOVE Niah's curry chicken patti

Jamaican patties are similar to empanadas or Pastelillos.
Deep fried or baked pastry with minced meat, spices and\or other fillings.
Typical flavors found are:
Spicy beef
Beef and cheese
Chicken
Shrimp

Yum!! Yes, like an empanada.
Patty vendors walk most of the beach if that's where you are staying. On the west end you will need to venture out for patties. When staying on the west end we will sometimes "hire" a local kid we know to get a couple for us for lunch if we don't feel like or have enough time to venture out ourselves.
Don't forget loafs. Like a stuffed coco bread. I love the ackee loaf from OUT OF TOWN
Oh, my. I think I need one now. We will be at Couples Negril. Any recommendations close by?
Niah's - the finished product. Soooooo good :)

Is Neville still selling them on the beach?
I believe I saw him last week in front of Treehouse in the afternoon.
Last trip my bf and I tried so long to find veggie patties (we r vegetarian) and it was so frustrating because we couldn't find any for DAYS. Finally found the patty man on the beach and they were so delish!!
My vote is for Sonia's across from the beach road near Rooms I believe. Her calaloo patties are mouth watering yum. The ackee loaf sounds wonderful. Where is Out of Town??
Nice photos of the patties what is the mix for the dough? Would like to make them any good tips?
There is a vendor selling loafs on the beach now. He has brown stew loaf and veggie loaf. he also sells whole wheat coco bread
Niah's is in the Waves Event park, which is between Lazy Dayz and Tony's bar, not quite the middle of the beach. It's the last "hut" on the left as you're walking in from the beach. If you go, make sure to take shoes to wear once you leave the beach :)
Earlier in the day is best, especially during the off season, he'll have more available then. He tends to run out later in the afternoon.

Mmmm...these sound amazing. We are staying at RPTB so are on the wrong end. Wonder if there are any good places to stop on the way from airport to Negril. I want to stop for jerk pork and patties now. Hope Steve Positive has some great ideas!!
