Look a Negril Chef over the shoulder and learn about preparation of Jamaican Cuisine?
Hi Boardies,
My name is Steffen and I am new to this Forum. I will arrive this Sunday in Negril and stay for a week.
Been in Negril and other places (Port Antonio, Bluefileds, Ocho Rios) before in 1996 and 2001 and really loved it.
I was wondering if there is a possibility to learn some traditional Jamaican cooking?
Are there any Chefs or private local cooks who would be happy to share their passion for Jamaican cooking ?
Ideally next week (05th May - 10th May) ?
In return I could give some insight into German cuisine...

The only thing that comes to mind is a lunch or dinner trip to Zimballi, they give you a tour of the property and have a studio kitchen where the chefs do a cooking demo.Attachment 35915Attachment 35916

I'll be eating at my yard (Zion Hill) all week. If you want to come out and watch or help you're welcome.

I recommend Zimbalii as well. Two trained chefs prepare the meal in front of you with organic vegetables and herbs, grown on the farm. I learned a few things while there. It's a cool place and the owners are wonderful

Agree Zimbali is a wonderful experience and a top "must do" in Negril but I would not call it traditional Jamaican. I would take Captain D up on his offer. There is a recommended driver named Linston who may know the way..

Zimbali looks great in those photos. I like how they made their kitchen an activity for guests!
