Flip report - April - May 2014

Philadelphia Airport. - TSA ticket scanners are having an issue. They made me get out of security line and go get a new ticket. Had to do check-in and security twice. Aggravating.

Had a smooth flight to Montego Bay. Godwin was there to pick us up. He had already scooped up my mom. She was on an earlier flight. They went to deadend beach. We pounded some red stripes on the way to Travellers Beach resort.

When we arrived, Rob and Lisa were there to welcome us. We checked in real quick. Went to the bar for a few drinks with R and L. They had to take off for Canoe Bar for the Webcast.

We walked up the beach to pick up my mom at her hotel, and headed to Canoe. Had some Rum Punches. Ran into a lot of boardie friends we made last year. After the cast we met up with Roy and Ginger, and Terry And Janet and a few others who went up to Chicken Lavish for dinner. HAd some drinks there.

We decided to call it an early night. I will need to see if I can find photos. The iphone i was using died mid trip.

I've never had TSA scan a ticket, they just look at it? Or is that the wand-y thing they sometimes hold over it? Bummer you had to retrace and re-do :mad:

You know what. I have no idea, but the guy was kind of a dick about it.

Nice start, sorry about TSA.....

I walked off the end of that pier at Mary's Bay one late night/early morning. Of course it was after a very long session and many ques of rum on the porch at Mi Yard.... :)

Day 2 - The Boardie Bash

Started off the morning with breakfast at the hotel. We had all of our stuff packed and decided to hike up to mom's hotel (Sandy Haven) which is right next to Firefly. The party location. I went over to Sun Beach, where I saw Musicdoc. We chatted it up for a little bit, I hadnt seen him since the April prior. Walking up the beach, I see Groove. He is completely decked out in Jamaica gear. Shirt shorts, the works. "I want to look like a tourist, because I am one". haha.

I strolled over to the party, said hello to rob and lisa, ordered up a beer and went to retrieve my mom and jackie. They ended up at a table with LeeLee I think? my memory of the party is a little fuzzy, because that was the first full day of a 2 week trip.

The party went very well. There was a good turnout. It was great to meet a few new people. GerryG123 made an appearance, and introduced himself. My impression of Gerry is that he is a 20 yearold trapped in an adult's body. Very young at heart.

The plan was to head to drifters next. I think half of us walked and half of us rode. We stopped at Sunny side for a beer on the way down the beach.

Drifters was BAD ASS. First time there. Loved everything about it. Very good prices. Luddy Sams - a former member of the actual Drifters owns and sings at the bar. Great stuff. Unfortunately I had to bail a little early, so I could go watch the Flyers play.

That ended up being at Seastar. There was a decent crowd of familiar faces hanging around the Seastar when I got there. I made my rounds and said hi really quick and then settled in to watch the game. The Flyers lost.

I am pretty sure we didnt make it past 10 this night. I think I may have met the chickster.

What Son??? you wouldn't believe how many people thought he was a figment of my imagination, Lol he made it out alright still looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost. he friends didn't believe he was in Jamaica.

you got that right Groove, I've nicknamed him David Copperfield he's nothing but an illusion. It was great meeting you and the rest of the posse.

My brain hurts. I am not sure what the heck we did on Saturday. I think this might have been the day that Groove and his wife moved to our hotel. If this is the case, then I think what we did was, hang out in the pool for most of the day and drank rum. The pool at Travellers is pretty sweet. They had a swim up bar, with the music blaring all afternoon.

After the pool, we got cleaned up, and my mom met us at the hotel. I think Roymon, and Sherri joined all of us and we were haning out on my porch for a little while.


Mom, Jackie and I went to dinner at Ivans. After we went to seastar for the show. Groove ate a cake and was dancing like a mad man.

I think I have some photos of the night and maybe the day?

I see a couple of Katho's photos in there! She takes some great shots for sure ;) ... I wouldn't remember any of the trip if it weren't for her pics!

However, I do remember this Saturday night you were wearing long sleeves & jeans ... still WTF dude! :D

It was a great trip! I'm glad your mom & the "one who said yes" 's parents were there for you guys! Your mom was a pleasure to hang out with!

Katho's pictures are the only damn ones I have have from the first part of the trip. lol. My iphone, that I was using in Jamaica decided it didnt want to charge anymore?

I agree , thanks to Katho and her pics cause I only took about 10 pics myself. I also agree with groove and the cake ,,, I thought I saw him Dirty dancing like a mad man .

Sunday.... huh. What did we do sunday....

I think it was to be Steph's birthday. The Flyers were playing again that day. I dont remember if they won or lost, but I think lost. It was easy for me, because I sat at the bar and watched a lot of the game. Steph and co showed up sometime around 2? I have no idea, but it poured rain like crazy. We made our way to Yellow bird, and had some flaming bob marleys. I did two, because I am the man.

We were there for hours it seemed.

Ended up getting to Alfreds. More rain, but then a volley ball game broke out. Gary and Steph were hitting the ball around and 4 Jamaicans came in and joined them. It looked like a game of, keep away from the white mon on your team, and hit it directly to the one on the other. Funny stuff. After a bite to eat, we went to Tony's hut. My mom joined us and we split off from the group to go eat dinner at Kuyaba.

I dont think we stayed up late. I dont remember staying up late anyway.

Was a good day.


I know for sure I do not have any pics of this. But I might have been tagged in some. I will look.

Hey flip,did you bring your mom to any "dance clubs" ?(hehe)
