I love conch!! Especially curried conch, it gives you a strong back! LOL Not sure about the Willex though? Rob?
Hi welcome Conch is a meat is found is the sea and its comes in a shell , willex comes in a much smaller shell , you can grilled ,curried, make fritters , salads, soup etc same for willex make soup , curried or grilled, its know to give to Stamina{ good sex drive}Quote:

I'm thinking 'Willex' is an alternative to what are termed 'Welks' in some places.
I've heard them called "willets" too. Just a small shellfish that clings to the rocks, makes good bait too.
I guess this means I will be visiting Qualitys Sea Breeze Restaurant next time I am in Negril, and
eating lots of Willex!!!

Great atmosphere overlooking the 7 miles beach
I highly recommend this great place! Quality is a real nice guy and a great chef! Ate there twice in a week, had mahi mahi (so good it was named twice) in a garlic sauce and then a grilled lobster with garlic butter. Top notch! His jerk chicken is also very good!

What is "willex"?
It's a type of snail. I really don't recommend it. Seems to me that they don't purge them in Jamaica like they would in most places. Usually you put them in clean water for a week or so to "purge" out their system, otherwise they can have a pretty funky taste.

Hi Quality (or Fay). Sorry, I didn't really even pay attention to the fact that this was in your thread. I haven't made it to your place yet, but I have met you once (briefly). You stopped my brother and I one day walking up near Banmark and gave me one of your fliers. After all of the positive reviews (thanks Moose), I feel bad that I haven't. I definitely will on our next trip, but I still don't think I'm gonna go for the willex! Maybe.

Not sure if that's true elsewhere as I've never heard of anyone else in Jamaica serving willex...but that's the description (though in much more detail) Quality gave me when he was explaining willex to me...how he gathered, cleaned (purged) and prepared the willex.Quote:
