It's gone no nude. No comment, but it doesn't bother me
I'm really disappointed. The clothing optional beach was the one thing Firefly had going for it. There are far better choices now.
The place has changed a lot! they have expanded the bar and now offer food as well as drinks , some rooms have been refurbished, new linens etc, most of the staff that were there for years has moved on and mainly they are no longer clothing optional .
Personally I am also disappointed about the change in c/o policy, when I was there I met some of the new owners and they were assuring me and other repeating guests that they weren't going to make any changes to that, just improvements to the facilities on offer... :(
They do still offer c/o at Point village, although the beach there is not very nice compared to the beauty of the spot at Firefly...
I'm game for all having a good time. However, this place stood out like a sore thumb while walking along Long Bay. Plenty of places to get naked in this world, no need to do it in the middle of all sorts of clothed peeps. Check out Half Moon if U wanna rock out with your cock out.
Booger, it seems I rarely agree with you but on this I am in complete agreement. There just aren't that many people I want to see naked or be naked around. And certainly not in the middle of a public beach. If you want to hang out with your thang out you're free to do so but that doesn't trump my freedom to not have to see it.
I highly value friends with who I disagree. If everybody agreed on everything there would be no room for learning and growth. And things would be very boring.
Bless...

I can't really imagine why it would bother anyone. People's attitudes toward nudity really just mystify me. All I can surmise is that it must have roots in Puritanism.
But I have to do a double take at the assertion that you should have the freedom not to have to see it. The freedom is which you speak is the freedom to have others comport to your desires. Which of course has nothing whatsoever to do with freedom.
Should my freedom not to read or hear opinions I don't agree with trump those with opinions to share? I think not. Avert thine eyes if a naked body part threatens you so. Lol.
I am neither threatened or offended by nudity. I have spent plenty of time naked and outdoors in Negril, in the privacy of my balcony. I've even gone skinny dipping at night. In fact I'm naked under my clothes right now;). With many other options, other than being smack dab in the middle of a public beach, it makes me wonder if it is less about the pleasures of being a naturist and more about exhibitionism.
Sorry but you are missing the point totally, and speaking of choices out of 999999 hotels on the main long-bay only ONE was c/o...Firefly with its 100ft wide beach front property
3 key elements of firefly c/o appeal, and its not the exhibitionism you imagine...
1. firefly offered secrets cabins at 60usd per night, or firefly apartments around 120 per night, other options in Negril are: PV, Couples, Sandals or Hedo or Grand Lido =mostly all AI's, and all A LOT more expensive than firefly.
2. The beach at Point village/Hedo/Sandals TOTALLY SUCKS! Firefly's bit of the beach, is as you say very central, but its damn paradise!
3. cheap beer (which never hurts hehe)
I guess no one has stayed at Firefly since they have renovated it?? I am interested in the rooms and property. :)
as I said in my first post on this thread, before the naturism bashing began, they have indeed improved things, new bar (much bigger) that also serves food now, rooms have had a facelift, new linens etc
you can see the changes on their Fb page here: https://www.facebook.com/firefly.cottages.3?fref=ts
hope this helps :)
What I dont understand is why the old fat men had to pull their loungers right up to the edge where everybody has to walk. Not a very pretty sight. Actually downright scary and very disturbing.
I know I'd need to get a whole lot more attractive before I'd have the audacity to criticize anyone else's appearance.
Booger I rarely disagree with you but as a closet nudist when I'm on the beach tanning naked there are no other men out there. It's just me and tons of naked women, never seen a man out there! LOL
Glad you mentioned this Tantastic. I have been looking for a way back into this discussion as I might have come across as prude. Frankly, that could not be further from the truth. However, Firefly smack dab in the middle of Long Bay is odd to me. Take your nakedness to areas that are well accepted. Just responding from walking by with a 7 and 10 year old who has been raised quite openly.
I personally never had a problem with FireFly. If you want to rockout with your cock out, hangout with your wang out, do it up. Whatever floats your boat. I always walked right on by firefly and never turned my head in that direction. The first time I went to Jamaica, when I was in 7th grade. There was a nude beach right next to the hotel we were at. I used to sneak over with snorkel gear and look at the boobs.
When we first went to Jamaica, Bloody Bay was undeveloped and the de facto nude beach. Unfortunately, Negril is becoming Myrtle Beach with Ganja. I miss the edgy side of Negril.
Before they built the Beaches resort, that land was undeveloped.
It was a favorite spot for nudism.
We used to call it "buff in rough".
I'm no prude - if it's hot and taut, flaunt it! I don't care to see flabby and hairy people nude however, just my personal preference.
