The lead singer and guitarist for the Roots Vibration Band, and our personal friend, Stephen West passed away last night.
Some of you may know him as Jimmy James, and many of you know him from the Seastar Inn Saturday night shows and webcasts.
No words can suffice for what we are feeling - we will miss you man!

So very sad to hear this. I loved his voice. So glad I purchased a few of his CD's. He will live on in his music. Nice guy too.

We are so saddened to hear of Stephen's passing. We always enjoyed his energy at SeaStar. Rob and Lisa, thank you for posting this. We are sorry for your loss, as you both knew him so well. We will keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincere condolences to family and friends. We always enjoyed seeing his at the Reggae Saturday night parties and working his way down the beach to entertain. He will be missed and we too enjoy his music on our Sunday mornings.

It is with a heavy heart that I celebrate the life of Stephen West. I got to know Stephen pretty well during several stops in Negril and when he gave me a copy of his album, I had a new favorite group of songs. I have been singing this song all day today with a tear in my eye. As the song say, "Respect one another.".Quote:

He was a good guy and I am so sad about this. When we would talk about musicians, if he was talking about someone he thought was good he'd say "dat guy-professional." Well that guy was professional and I will miss him. RIP.

so sorry to hear this. My fiance told me he had been sick when i noticed he was no long performing at Seastar. Life is too short! Grab all the love and gusto you can! RIP Stephen!I will miss seeing his show when i return in September after a 2 yr. deployment. I will hold my sweetheart ever so tightly knowing each day on earth is a gift!

I'm so sorry to hear about Stephen's passing. I would always chuckle when he would jump around on stage and do handstands. I met him once, and when I came back several years later, he still remembered me. May he rest in peace.

I'm hoping someone will have a contact for his family in Negril, so we can still purchase his CD's when we visit! I saw Stephen the last time I was there but he had run out of CDs and I wasn't able to get one :( Hoping his family will keep the CD's coming so we can all still get them, and his music will live on forever as will Stephen in our hearts!
