A guest of CC was staying on the top floor just behind restaurant. They were able to get out but there clothes etc smell of smoke. They were lucky.
How will this impact current and future guests? People love that restaurant and rooms include breakfast. Glad no one was hurt!
The new one is at the back of their beach area, so it does have a water view but certainly not as close.Quote:

They planned to still use that building, perhaps as a beach snack/bar. There was no reason to remove it, unless they wanted totally unobstructed views for the seafront cottages on that side. The view at the moment is not looking good, and won't for a bit. I would hope it wasn't a planned burn, particularly with guests staying so close to it.
And as usual the speculation and rumors begin

Glad to hear no one was hurt. Had breakfast on my most recent trip and really enjoyed it. Hoping to return next reach. I loved the stained glass windows! Glad they're able to get back up so soon.

Loved, loved loved this restaurant and bar.We were just there in June. It was so cute and beautiful views. It was our happy place too. Spoke with the GM and he said they were keeping it because so many people loved it. Happy no one was hurt, hopefully the staff will be starting back soon.
We're they able to save the stained glass?
We were there at Tree House, staying in Suite A (the posted photo from the fire was taken alongside the porch). When we woke up around midnight the restaurant was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire company arrived soon after that. It was pretty scary from our location. A very intense fire - the propane tank for the stove was open (a good thing - the fire burned the hose) and the tank gassed out and burned for probably 45 minutes or so. That was the sound that woke us up. The trees along the property between Gail's and Country Country are singed but look like they'll recover. It's very fortunate that it didn't spread beyond the restaurant. We just got home yesterday so haven't unloaded our photos yet.
Saw some pictures on FB, looks like they cleaned things up pretty quickly. Hope they rebuild soon, that was one of the closest spots to the ocean...

This makes me so very sad! Had the best banana pancakes there last Saturday, the day before the fire. We stayed in the first cottage to the right of the bar/restaurant. That would have been too close for comfort! I am happy to hear no one was hurt, but it makes me sad for the servers & cooks who are now without a job...

She was there when I was there! Absolutely. Hugged her and had a long conversation. That was after the fire, 1 month ago when we left Negril.
Does any one know what's up with Country Country. Some really bad reviews on TA. I know change is good but doesn't sound like the Country Country is going to have that charm that it is know for and that is why we were going to stay there:((
Saw the same thing. We are staying there for the first time and saw the bad reviews.
Our first time there also we can just hope for the best
I doubt that it's changed that much other than the bar that's gone. There may be some reviewers that are new to Negril and even non AI due to their last Groupon. I've seen some recent pics on Facebook and it looks lovely. No worries!
