A friend is thinking about staying at Grand Pineapple in January.
Since I'm mostly a cliff dweller, I don't know much about GP.
I'd appreciate your thoughts to pass on to her....
Thanks!

I'm staying there January, first time AI in Negril. :)
good luck, our friends from the board tried to book 2 months ago for feb, all booked, soon come
Well, Melody, that says a lot because I know you are mindful in your planning!
Thanks!
Anyone else?! Lol
Thanks, Jamaicarob!
It was ~ $145 USD/night so compared to non AI prices at that time decided to try it...staying on West End a few nights as well. I booked in April, then a coworker booked for November, then another trip with another coworker for January (after I get back). I believe one was checking since and said it's booked up for January. Have they checked availability?
Tina and I have stayed there.. It's really nice - We stayed in one of the cottages on the garden side. The food and drinks are top drawer - the beach is great.. We didn;t find the staff as friendly as at Legends or the Tree House or Fun Holiday.. but all in all it was a good time..
I loved my stay at the 'Pineapple.
Thanks for the replies!! If they want an AI, it sounds like GP is a good choice for them.
Stayed there years back really enjoyed my stay especially the food and location. Security is like fort Knox friends had to provide names etc before I left with them.
We stayed there in 2013 in June. My wife and I loved it. We stayed on beach side cottage. Food is buffet style, but is great and there is plenty of it. They have theme nights, but always have some authentic Jamaican each nite. One nite a weej they have a bbq on the beach. The drinks there are decent. If you want them strong they will make them strong. If you want them watered down they can do that too..Beer is on tap no bottles. The staff is great. The Pineapple is a Sandals owned property and some of the staff are sent there to learn the ropes. unlike Sandals or beaches tips for staff are ok and appreciated. Recently (last 6 months) the manager was promoted to a Sandals resort. The beach there is much nicer believe it or not than Sandals Negril...We went to Sandals this year and spend one day back at the GP just to enjoy the nice beach and people watch.
Thanks, Jaherring, Sammy & Stang! :)
If they're going the last week in January, I checked and there's availability in a gardenside cottage. Everything else was sold out, checking from Sunday to Sunday.
Thanks, Melody! I told her if she's thinking January she'd better hurry!
Can anyone tell me the difference from the "Beach Cottage" & "Beachside Manor Building"?
The beachside cottages are separate buildings divided up into 4 rooms. Each cottage room has it's own balcony area or porch area. The manor building is more like a motel type, it is above the office and store. We stayed in the beach side cottage.
Stang. Thank you! one more question...Do all the cottages have an oceanview?
Stayed there a couple of years ago. I loved it. I am booked again for later this year. I got an awesome deal through Orbitz.com with 15% promo code Review15. I have a gardenview cottage this time. Had a beachview cottage which was in the back. No problem for me. I was only steps from the beach :)
Not all beachside cottages have an ocean view.
Are all the cottages on the beach side or are they across the road? Also do you know do they have frigs and microwaves in the room?
You can get a fridge for extra $, but no microwave.
They have cottages on both sides..beach side (most expensive) and garden side. A couple of the beach side cottages back up to Alfreds..so you might have some issues sleeping when there is a concert going on there. The garden side you might get woken up early by the peacocks..they start making noise at sunrise.. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the room..However you can "rent" a fully stocked mini fridge. It comes with coke, sprite, redstripe and I think a couple of bottles of wine....didn't want to pay the 60 bucks for it..i'm getting cheap after the sandals experience..ugh...
Is that $60 per day for a frig? We did book there I found dates that worked and we will be staying gardenside. We normally do not like AI but figure we are still down on the main beach and it will be our honeymoon and bringing friends that want AI. Thanks for all the help.
Hello all. Cindy and are staying at The Pineapple January 24th-31st for our 7th time in 5 years. We love it. You can't beat the price. We have stayed on both sides. I have included a link to look at last Februarys trip. You will get a glimpse of The Pineapple.

West End Girl. Just checked: 1 garden side cottage left for the week of Jan 24-31. Nothing on beach side.
I believe that 60.00 charge is for the time you are there..however i'm sure there would be a charge to restock the fridge..you can buy your own beverages at the local stores much cheaper to restock.
Can you have visitors there?
No on the visitors - unless you want to pay for a day pass...
Good to know...Thanks Kathy!
We booked at Grand Pineapple January 23 through Feb 1st. Hopefully we will meet up with you Phil and Cindy. We normally go non AI but since it is our honeymoon we decided to splurge. Can't wait we did not make it there last year.
Greetings, IRIEchic! Love your quote at the bottom of your message... so appropriate! Experience it all, love it all... or stay home! :)
MNLADY, Congrats on the honeymoon. You will have no problem finding us as we are not the type to sit in the corner. We love to meet new people while on the rock. See you there.
