JerknStripe-Wisconsin Style
After many years of jerking on weber and other types of grills. I at last created a drum pan for our Jamaica Fest celebration.
Here is a little blast from the past and the new drum pan in action!

Re: JerknStripe-Wisconsin Style
Nice touch on the quarter cut-out of the barrel top. Don't recall seeing that before but maybe I wasn't looking for it either. I am going to file that idea away for when I go home to Accompong Town. I am going to look for a barrel and give that a try.
Thanks.
Respect.

There must be instructions for making something like this. Did you have any plans?

Re: JerknStripe-Wisconsin Style
ya mon, live also here in Wisconsin, have had a similar barrel for three years now, the winters are tough on it for its starting to rust out on the bottom, having an extra heat shield on the bottom will help dissipate the heat, they sure do taste good and then getting some pimento wood out of Minnesota makes it even better, good job on the barrel though

Re: JerknStripe-Wisconsin Style
If they're galvanized (and probably even if not), make sure to burn them out thoroughly before cooking any food on it, or you could poison yourself.

You can order pimento wood online, just soak the pieces in water overnight.

And from what I have seen it is pricey. Anyone know the story on bringing some back from Jamaica? Thought I saw an article on bringing carvings back where the wood had to be finished on all sides.

Yeah, it's pretty expensive. Not sure about bringing any back.

Re: JerknStripe-Wisconsin Style
We've brought pimento wood back to the States many times. I double-bag it, so it doesn't mess up our clothes in the suitcase. Never had any problem with customs and/or security in Montego Bay or Chicago/Milwaukee.
