Does anyone know of any places on the beach to shoot pool? I heard Tanyons bar has a pool table. How long of a walk is it from Nirvana to Tanyons? Would love to get in a few games of pool when visiting at the end of this month. Thanks!

Boat bar has a table ,if you're good the palms has a table and while pool guy would say tayons is a short walk from the beach, most I think would taxi it,be safe have fun, soon come
Thanks Striper! I probably could easily walk to Tanyons regardless of how far, but depending just how far could depend on the walk back. It also depends on how many Redstripes I take in on my way there. :)Is Tanyons by the roundabout?
Tayon's is past the roundabout - about 1/4 mile - on the West End Road. Great Jerk chicken there, too!
Thanks Mike_D. Do you have any idea of Tanyon's hours?
the boat bar is going to be closest to nirvana
Best place to shoot with the best players is Palm court off Hermitage road by St. Marys church. You can shoot at Corner bar , which has a table and then start walking towards the west end, once you reach the windy uphill part just past Hi lo that is Hermitage road. Walk up there till the first dirt road . about 100 yards and take a right and your there.
Thanks, what game do they usually shoot? Any 9 ball? Tournaments?
Recently heard about a new bar that opened on beach road with pool table, Player Sportz Deck. Across from Roots Bamboo...
8 ball only. They have 2 barboxes and a 9 footer. They like to gamble . Very good action there. Get any kind of game you want. Straight 8. Call shot. Touch any ball with shirt or body and ball in hand. All fouls ball in hand. They play a very good game of 8 ball. Tables are in great shape. They got liquor and sometimes food. I've been going there for 2 to 3 years now. Great bunch of guys there. Devon is the owner and lives about 100 yards from there. They don't stay open late unless you are playing.House cues are good, but doesn't hurt to bring your own. Everyone there has their own cue.Same guys there all the time. Domino and card games going on also if you want that too.
Thanks shooter1! Sounds good. Do both the Palms & Tanyon's have action on the tables afternoons or early evenings? I'm usually up at the crack of dawn, so any late action would probably be pretty tough for me. Can't bring my own cue cause I'm doing carry on when I fly.
How's Tanyon's house cues? Thanks again for the advice!
Tayon's, not Tanyon's.
Boogzy, Looking forward to checking out Tayon's. (Thanks for correct spelling) Sounds like a great spot. I'll be sure to wait till later in the evening before going. Would enjoy playing some locals.
Sounds like a great night out. Thanks!
The Seaview or the "Corner bar" as it's called is a good spot for some evening/night 8 ball. It's to the left at the round-about, pass scotia bank and the chinaman store. The next place on your left across from the water is the spot, good drinks-food-fun! I wouldn't gamble for more than a drink (my opinion). If you happened to win a sum of $$$ , (good luck/all some of these guy's do is play pool), many eyes would see the loot go into your pocket. Off subject the Chinaman store across from scotia bank is the best place to exchange US$ for JM$, he gives the highest exchange with no ID hassle or wait, he's on your left as you enter the front door, in/on his pedestal or throne, pretty cool old school chinese store in jamaica. Have a great time, also Seastar Resort has a good table, they have poker night too, also great drinks/food, they will even pick you guy's up/take you home if you spend a few hours partying with them, super place.
Kim&betty, Seastar will be on the list for sure. Will check them out on a Sat. night. can't miss the buffet/show! Thanks for the info. A friendly drink is all I can afford to play for, lol. Just looking for friendly game of pool. Corner bar sounds like its close to Tayon's so will check them out too. Thanks! Also want to go somewhere with good vibes. All places mentioned sound great!
Another close walk is a place on the road about a 10 minute walk toward town... I am blanking on the name but it is on the morass side of the road, and I think it is next to Sunrise Club. I think there is also a pool table now at the Juicy J's restaurant (formerly pilots cafe) which is about a 10 minute walk from Nirvana walking away from town... good spot to get lunch and shoot.
Thanks Sam I Am! Everyone on here has been very helpful. Can't wait to check all these places out. I will attempt my first ever trip report while in Negril.
There is a place on the road, beach side just past Treehouse towards Couple,s can't remember the name ,sports bar with a pool table.
Thanks poolguywindsor! I'll be in Negril for 10 days so I am glad to have several choices. Can you suggest any place in particular that you like? I'm assuming you have some experience shooting pool in negril with your username. Wont be able to bring my own stick because of carry on, so looking for places with decent house cues and decent top. I know most places probably dont have any action till later at night, but can you think of any places where there might be something going on earlier in the afternoon / evening? Certainly don't want to play alone. Thanks again.
Since you asked for on the beach I have to endorse the person who said Juicy J's, though it is wayyyy up the beach heading toward the AI's. The day I spent there felt like a family picnic, very warm and very welcoming. I had a blast shooting pool there and I think you will enjoy it.
Thanks Misti1, how far is Juicy J's past Margaritaville coming from White Sands? I didn't see it on the Negril map. Thanks, sounds worth checking out!
Ok It is more or less next door to the Palms, so if you find The Palms that will let you know where it is.
