I'm planning a trip for my father, who is accustomed to the AI experience, I'm trying to ween him off of that. I'm a cliff dweller, and have him staying the first half of the trip on the west end, but want him to have a few days on the beach so he can decide what he likes. I'm aware of the previous incident(s) at Rondel, but does anyone have any recent experience there? Have things improved? Thanks in advance!

Theft from rooms, allegedly.
I was one of the guests whose room was room was entered by a thief in February. I didn't hesitate for a minute when I booked a room and stayed there this past August. I've also booked a room there for my winter 2015 trip. The guests now are given wrist bands to wear so that they are more easily identifiable for security. Also, the late night security seem to move around the property more and may be from a different security company. They also have different security locks on the doors. I don't feel that Rondel's security was necessarily bad -- after all, they had (& still have) over a dozen security cameras around the property when the incident occurred. I think this kind of incident can happen anywhere. But, I certainly am pleased that Rondel implemented some new measures instead of shrugging it off as many places may have. I've stayed there twice a year for the last seven years and can't imagine staying anywhere else.
A former cliff dweller who moved to Rondel years ago..... Rent a scooter so I get my daily dose of cliffs.... But I always enjoy my Rondel stay
I just returned yesterday from 9 nights at Rondel. I hadn't stayed there in a few years and was great! No issues at all. I felt very safe. Everyone on the staff was so pleasant - from the security to the front desk, housekeeping and the dining area/bar. I hope you enjoy your stay!Quote:

I use to frequent Rondel as well but decided on a change for no certain reason. I moved to Coco La Palm about two years ago and like it so much better than Rondel. It is located right near Best in the West (great jerk chicken) and it has more of a Jamaican vibe!

We've been staying at rondel for the last seven years, have always felt safe.
Have stayed at Rondel for the last 4 years and also feel safe. The owners and staff are great and the guests too, right Ziggy?
I do appreciate the feedback guys and gals. I went a different route, but not for any safety concern (which I didn't have much of anyhow, but theft annoys the hell out of me). It's a trip for my dad, and I wanted to give him a taste of the cliffs and the beach as he's only ever been to Mobay and stayed at the mega AI's. I ended up sticking with my comfort zone on the west end, as I'm going to go with him his first time.
