Has Myrnas little store closed or moved?
Myrna's is closed. It did not relocate.
oh no what about sunnyside?
The Red Stripe is still runnin right.....
Is Merna herself OK?
Myrna is doing fine. Saw her just the other day walking the beach!
Is Myrna's not that great little store just a few feet towards town from Sunnyside? If so where is my wife going to send me for her wine supply? Loved that store, just far enough from Treehouse to give me some good exercise and always nice cold RS for the walk back!
Is there an explanation as to why Myrnas shut down?
Oh no! Sorry to hear.
Myrna's store closing was business decision...she is still running the Yamon Red Stripe catamaran.
When we saw Myrna in Sept we spoke to her at length about her shop and the decision to close it.
Exactly as Lisa state above, that line of business is hard work and long hours and like many others in the trade sometimes you have to ask yourself is the return on time and dollars invested worth it?
Myrna was doing great when we saw her and as sweet as ever. She seemed super excited to focus more on her catamaran business.

Nice to hear Myrna is OK. Looking forward to seeing and chatting with her in January
went to see Myrna this week...the store is open, but she is not running it....not the same vibe...got my juice and cheese for breakfast, couldnt sit at the table and eat in peace...usually visit that store most every day, but this trip, the hassles wasnt worth the walk...
There is a store there, but it is not Myrna's. It is a new owner.
Will someone go into the old Myrnas store, buy a cold red stripe and let us boardies know how much it was please.
I will Larry. With my Karen around the cooler is always loaded!
Bump... still waiting the price of RS for a friend heading down soon. Thanks.
Hi Yvonne,
Would love to have an update on how things are going at the Beach Club if you are there this trip. Are the restaurant and bar open, pool and most importantly do I have to be in line at 7am to get a chair?
Rumlover... I won't be back until summer. The restaurant & bar are open. Pool was iffy during the summer but mostly open... depends on kid usage if you get my drift. Chairs were chained up, back up/extra chairs chained & locked up. I still don't think there are enough for high season unless there are more stored elsewhere which I believe I did hear was the case. You probably do have to be there early to get a non-broken chair. I have a friend heading down today for a long stay. I'll be getting regular updates.
Thanks Yvonne. Pretty much what I expected. No winter trip this year?
I was in Negril over Thanksgiving week...walked by there several times...the only person we saw on the beach at nbcc was Octavious Gordon...we stayed there in 2010 and he is about the only one still there....Our other buddy from there, Gary, is now a driver and didnt catch up with him this trip....
You'll see Octavious because he's the only one out on the beach all day. Gary's been gone a couple of years, now married & driving taxi. Junior is still there tending the garden, Raymond on the beach. Tiger, Vinton, Damion, etc. all there but they don't hang on the beach. I really don't like the winter time for various reasons... too crowded, not enough beach chairs :-), more expensive, etc. I like the quiet of summer. That's also my TS time.
It sucks when the little places we like to stop disappear.
What does all this have to do with the price of a cold red stripe from the store formerly known as Myrnas?
Trying to keep the post current whie waiting for an answer. Bunch up undies? lol
Myrna's store used to have a sign saying beers were 140j to compete with the Sunnyside bar where beers were 150j...the new owners of the store do not put out a sign advertising cheap beer prices which may be the reason no one is answering yet/visited the store.
I can only tell you that the beers are now 170j at the Sunnyside bar right next door.
As of today....the store next to Sunnyside sells beer for 160j...they also now sell souvenirs.
Hey ya'll,
160 is 1.44US served
Geez
Thanks Lisa. Now I can pass on the info. Sunnyside $170J RS the last trip or 2 I was there. I spend my money at both places while on my beach walks.
