was in Negril last Christmas with wi-fi at the hotel. Neither Pandora nor my Amazon Prime for watching moveis would work. I would get a message from both something to the effect that they were not available. Does anyone know if these things are not available outside of the US? If not, does anyone have a link so I can listen to some free reggae on my iPhone or iPad? Thanks
I'm here now and sadly Amazon Prime movies don't play here. I have watched movies on my Kindle but either You Tube or special channel. I downloaded tons of reggae and have Prime Cloud too..thus have not tried Pandora. Top shelf Negril day today....again! :)
Amazon Prime doesn't work outside the US but netflix allowed us to watch a movie on a rainy afternoon:)
Pandora doesn't work in JA, unless you use a proxy server.
iHeart radio worked for me last time we were there.
Niether works outside the US what I do is download a couple of movies before I leave and you can watch them where ever they have wifi

I'm not sure how one of the hotels (tensing certainly could not) would handle video traffic through their servers. I did get a couple you tube videos to work, but they were very stop and go. You may have better experience elsewhere.
Pandora is blocked from streaming to Ja IP addresses. I read you can use a proxy server and it will work. I haven't tested it yet but will in Feb.
Just "google" something to the affect of "stream pandora outside U.S.". There are lots of proxy servers out there to use. A proxy is a server you connect to and when you browse to websites they believe you are the proxy. So if the proxy your connected to is in the US and you browse to Pandora, Pandora believe you are in the location of the proxy (US) and will allow the stream to the proxy that will then send the data to you in Ja.
I can't speak to the legality of using a proxy. You may also have to try several proxy servers as Pandora or other websites may block known IP's of proxy servers. If websites aren't actively blocking known proxy servers then you can most likely assume its not a concern to the website you are accessing.
It might be like Netflix. I have a MacBook that I loaded Chrome onto. There's an extension that spoof's the DNS. It allows me to watch US Netfilx in Canada and elsewhere.
I use the extension on my Chrome also...I watch a few BBC programs in iplayer here in the US...without the extension BBC iplayer would not work here....going to give it a shot in JA in a few days....

I also use it to watch Food Network up here. The Canadian Version doesn't stream as much stuff so I like to be able to see some of the videos of the recipes and if they have any hints or tips.
